Artwalk!
Fun fact: handmade local art makes for a perfect graduation gift! 😉 Check out these artist vendors at Summit Artspace for ArtWalk on June 10.
Anyone who visited Summit Artspace or Artists of Rubber City/the BOX gallery in the last two decades surely crossed paths with Frances Ryan, who died in February. She was an avid patron of both visual and performing arts. Maybe she greeted you at the door or you chatted with her at opening receptions. Maybe you remember her as the volunteer or fellow audience member who always dressed for the occasion in colorful ensembles. For those who knew her, Fran will be remembered as a good friend whose love for the arts and animals was bountiful.
For more than thirty years Frances lived in a spacious Highland Square apartment with plant filled windows that sparkled with colorful glass. The interior, filled with books and artwork, was a visual delight.
Fran would be delighted to know that the intention of this sale is to find new owners and homes for artwork from her collection while benefiting two arts organizations that she supported.
All proceeds will be donated to Artists of Rubber City and Summit Artspace in Fran’s memory.
Cash and checks are appreciated; credit cards are accepted.

Update about Summit Artspace alternative operations during public health emergency
***UPDATE TO THIS INFORMATION AS OF MARCH 12***
***The school musical will be cancelled due to the recent banning by the state of Ohio of mass public gatherings. We appreciate the support of everyone who was planning on attending this production that our students have worked hard to prepare for.***
Mary Poppins is popping up earlier!
The new dates / times for the performances are:
Friday, March 13, 2020: 7 p.m. Evening
Saturday, March 14, 2020: 1:30 p.m. Matinee | 7 p.m. Evening
Sunday, March 15, 2020: 2:30 p.m. Matinee
Doors open 30 minutes before curtain, and tickets are available 1 hour before each show.
Here is why we are moving the dates up - in case Ohio state and public health officials change their guidance on public gatherings to discourage events like a high school musical production to take place (and we have no reason to believe they will, we just like to plan ahead) we cannot postpone the show until later in the year.
We have contracts for all of the lighting, equipment, and flying rigs (yes! Mary Poppins will FLY!!), and we are unable to extend those.
Students, crew members, and numerous adults have put an immense amount of time and effort into this endeavor and are excited to share this production with our Barberton community!
All pre-ordered ticket purchases will be honored at ANY of the productions!
So you are aware, we are deep cleaning the theatre before and after each production. And, if you are not feeling well, we encourage you to stay home and get a review of the show from a friend or family member!
We do hope you are able to join us to see all of the hard work and effort our students, faculty, and community have put into what promises to be an amazing production of Mary Poppins!
If you have questions, please call 330.753.1084.
