Black Voices Matter

An important article addressing a major deficit in vocal training. We are so fortunate that Jaron's studio exists and thrives in our city so that young talented black singers and speakers can learn from someone who has dedicated his research into their specific needs.

Black Voices Matter By Jaron M. LeGrair These last several days in America have been extremely difficult for me. Seeing a long line of direct attacks against my community has been painful, confusing, and draining. I am grieving. I am tired. I am angry. I am hurt. I have been using these da

UA Virtual Short Play Festival: Jenny Boswell
https://youtu.be/qYNJ1zqB5B0
A video adaptation of Caryl Churchill's one-act play, Heart's Desire.
Jenny says:

"In transforming my play (Heart’s Desire by Caryl Churchill) into a virtual, one-person performance, I decided I wanted to actually perform the play as is because it’s such a fun, interesting, and goofy —but meaningful— piece. So, I played all of the characters myself. Because it’s a film adaptation, I added on another layer: I had the story follow along with the daughter’s point of view as she is deep in thought whilst journeying back home, with her playing the roles of her family members. I had a lot of fun with this and I hope you enjoy!"

The Akron Civic Theatre will survive the pandemic as will we! Check out this inspiring article and video interview with Howard Parr, executive director of the Civc.

The fear of an invisible enemy stalked all of humanity during the 1918 flu pandemic, and Akron was not spared.
