"I'm a sucker for a a good fiddle"
Life on the road makes it hard to burn, so I've decided to switch back to pen and ink for the time being. Missing my medium, but the creative process must find a way! One of the perks of this medium is that it goes WAY faster than burning. So hopefully I'll have had the chance to get a lot of ideas out on paper before the end of this tour.
Here's the first finished product of many more to come.
Had a blast with the here in Durham NC this week, and honored to have been able to leave a bit of my art as a walltag backstage! Been a while since Ive painted murals, or painted in general! But it was fun reconnecting with a medium I used to use in my formative art years. The prompt for DPAC is to mash up your show with another show. So we chose MJ the Musical, cleverly titled "Annie are you OK?"!
Also, perhaps I forgot to mention, but I took this 9 month tour about a month or so ago playing Upright and Tuba in the pit. Here with a fantastic group of people. A few old friends, and a lot of new ones. And the music and show are truly fantastic.

Normal axes are in the shop so I brought my burnt bass to this week’s Confounding Fathers rehearsal. Things have been feeling really solid these past few weeks so I threw the phone up for a quick take of one of my favorite tunes.
Finished the burn on this Telecaster body commission a little while back, super happy with how it turned out. All that’s left for me to do is make the pick guard, burn the neck, and send it off to be assembled!
DM for inquiries, swipe for details ➡️➡️➡️
Finally got this bass assembled and set up, and boy does it SING! Played it on a few gigs these past few weeks, and I’m quite impressed with its playability. Excited to dig into some more bass and guitar burns over the winter.
Fun time with at last week! Big thanks to for playing some tunes and , and Thomas White for some great company at the tent. I’ll be at this Tuesday October 26th from 4-9, hopefully I’ll see you there!
Fun time a few weeks back at my first craft fair EVER at ! I’ll be at the Guild Beer Garden at 200 Dyer Street in Providence RI from 4-8 tonight with selling my wares and playing some tunes with my man . Would love to see some of your smiling faces there. If not I’ll be back at Whaler’s next Tuesday October 26th. Peace out social media land 🤙🤘
Been sitting on this project on and off for a 2+ years now, but I think I’m finally done with the burn on my first playable instrument! Still needs to be finished and assembled in the near future. Lost sleep a couple times wondering if I’d ever get the damn thing done. Time to pop the champagne.
(hey , need any more pyrography artists?)

I was really excited to release this album this week, but in typical Sam fashion, I went off half cocked.... The platforms needed some more time to sort things out before releasing, so I changed my drop date. The new release will be a month from now, on Saturday April 10th (which is also my birthday!! 🥳)! It would be the coolest birthday present if you gave it a listen.
Super excited to announce my debut solo album, “Bass & Voice”, is going to be dropping IN ONE WEEK ON FRIDAY MARCH 12th on every major streaming platform (no CDs 😕 too sppeeeennnsssive) A big thank you to all of the people who’ve helped make this possible along the way.
I started working on this album at the start of this pandemic, thinking “how am I going to make music without anyone else?” It made me go back to my roots, thinking about music less as a professional obligation, but more as the curious little kid I used to be, learning songs only for the joy of playing for myself. So I took a handful of radio tunes I’ve loved at different stages of my life and arranged them for solo bass and voice, and recorded them in 3 separate bedrooms (COVID had me moving a lot 😬).
It’s been one heck of a year, but I’m glad I was able to put this together in spite of it. I hope you’re able to take some time to give it a listen!
If you enjoy the album and care to donate (because, yknow, streaming platforms haven’t quite figured out how to pay the producers of their product 🤷🏻♂️), I’ll be selling digital prints of my pen and ink piece “Basswood” for $10.

Sent this small board off to a new friend a few days back. Experimenting with some angled cuts and metallic paint.
Had some fun about a week ago making some modifications to my axe. Did one of ballsiest things I’ve ever done by pre-drilling two small screw holes at the end of my fingerboard and mounting a Krivo magnetic pickup. Mounted a K&K blender with some Velcro and plugged both my Underwood and Krivo into it.
I haven’t been this happy with my amplified sound in quite some time. Has a great balance of articulation and presence, and doesn’t feed back. Still curious at trying a microphone blended setup down the road.
Made this GIANT board for . Made from reclaimed fir and pine, with some pyrography and metallic acrylic paint. More to come soon! If you’re interested in having a custom board made, please reach out, I’d be happy to work with you!
