In August 2024, I was sworn in as a Director at following a delegates’ mandate. I accepted that role knowing leadership is a service. Since then, the journey has been one of learning, responsibility, and accountability.
As leadership elevates your view, it also exposes hard truths. One of them is this: when our fellow creators pass on, their families are often left vulnerable, yet the industry continues to benefit from their legacy. That disconnect must be addressed.
With that conviction, I have formally instructed UPRS management that all royalties and allowances due to me , now and in the future, be remitted to the families of two fallen audio producers:
• Producer Danz Ku Mapeesa.
• Producer Skills on the Beat
This is both a personal decision and a statement of principle. Creators’ rights should not end with their lives. Our responsibility extends to the families and legacies they leave behind.
For the remainder of my tenure as Director representing audio producers, this stands as a small but intentional token of gratitude and respect for their immense contribution to our worlds.
