๐ก๏ธ FROM BROTHERS IN ARMS TO SWORN ENEMIES: THE STORY OF MAGNUS AND VARGOS โ๏ธ๐ฅ
It is said that steel tempered in the same furnace will never break. Magnus and Vargos were just such steel. The best graduates of the Etheric Academy, the elite of the Sky Guard, they called each other brothers. Magnus was a shield - calm, reasonable, true to his oath. Vargos was the sword - unrestrained, ambitious, thirsty for victory.
But one mission in the Sooty Rift changed everything. ๐๐จ
When the expedition was ambushed by the Legion, the airship's steam boilers began to explode one by one. Magnus, seeing the doom of the situation, made the most difficult decision of the commander: "Retreat! Save people, not iron!".
Vargos found himself in the very epicenter of the explosion.๐ฅ๐ Buried under the rubble, bleeding to death, he heard Him for the first time. The deaf, metallic whisper of the Black Core, calling from the abyss of the factory. ๐ฏ๏ธ๐น Magnus did not leave his brother. Risking his life, he pulled the mutilated Vargos out of the rubble and ordered them to retreat. Magnus saved his body, but he didn't know that Vargos had left a piece of his soul there in the darkness. ๐๐
A year later... ๐๏ธ๐ค
Vargos survived, but became a shadow of himself. His crippled hands could barely hold a glass, and he could not even think about heavy armor. Every day, from the hospital window, he watched Magnus, the โSavior of the Rift,โ being raised on golden pedestals. The crowd shouted Magnus' name, and everyone but the pain itself forgot about the one who had taken the brunt of the attack.๐๏ธ It was then that the whispers returned. The whisper of the Core grew stronger, promising to return to him the power that the war had taken away.
๐ฏ๏ธ๐ Vargos began to make his way to the secret archives of the Guard. Among the dusty scrolls and forbidden blueprints, he searched for an answer: what called him to the Rift? And he found it. The Black Core is an ancient force that feeds on the anger of those who have been betrayed by the world.
It was the darkest night in the history of Aether Peak. While the city slept under the protection of golden shields, the last candle burned in the deep archives of the Guard. That night Magnus stood at the window of the hospital. He had brought a flask of ale, the same ale he and Vargos drank after every victory. He wanted to tell his brother that he had found a way to restore his mangled hands, that the Guard had not forgotten his feat. Magnus entered the room, but found only an empty bed and an open window. ๐ฌ๏ธ๐ช
At that very moment, hundreds of miles away, in the white-hot heart of the Sooty Rift, Vargos stood before him. The Black Core pulsed like the heart of a living demon, beating to the rhythm of his own rage.
-โLet go of everything that makes you weak,โ the metal whispered. "Let go of love, let go of loyalty. Become a part of the Eternal Flame."
And Vargos did. He stretched his crippled hands toward the red-hot core. The pain was so intense that the sky above the Rift turned black, and Vargos' scream drowned out the roar of all the Legion's factories. โ๏ธ๐น๐ฅ
๐ From Vargos's memoirs:
"Magnus was calling me back. He talked about honor, about duty, about saving lives. But what is honor worth when you are weak? I could feel the pulsation of the Core. It did not ask for loyalty, it asked only for my heart. And I gave it... without any regrets."
That night, a great betrayal of fate occurred:
๐ก๏ธ Magnus lost a friend. He stood in the empty ward, clutching his flask, and for the first time in his life felt a cold fear pierce him to the bone. His brother had died for him in that moment.
๐ฅ Vargos gained power. The power that burned away everything human in him, leaving only rusty armor and an unquenchable thirst for revenge. Magnus left the hospital as a commander without a soul.
Vargos emerged from the Rift as a monster with a nuclear heart.๐โ๏ธ "We are no longer brothers, Magnus. We are just fuel for the fire to come."
โ๏ธ ๐ฏ๏ธ WHOSE LOSS HURTS MORE?
๐ - Magnus: He wanted to help, but it was too late. His loyalty became his curse.
โค๏ธ - Vargos: He lost himself so that he would never be weak again.
