A rare underglazed copper red blue and white horse grazing dish, late Ming Tianchi period, early 17th century. 明末天啓（1621-1627）赤繪青花釉裡紅斑馬紋盤，直徑15.1公分。類似的斑馬圖文也可在明代的《程氏墨苑》及《方氏墨譜》善本中所見。

Similar imageries of mottled horse can be found in the seminal Chengshi moyuan (Ink garden of the Cheng family) and Fangshi mopu (The Fang Family’s Inkstick Catalogue).

一個三彩綠色、黃色和紫色釉面五環繫耳陶罐，在16世紀末的中國南方製造，表面貼有花和葉子等貼花，俗稱Tradescant 罐子，以英國植物學家John Tradescant命名。

這種型別的罐子來到日本桃山，同時出口到波里尼西亞。 在日本，從九州大分縣中世紀的廢墟、奈良光福寺遺址和東京汐留遺址中出土了碎片。

這種造形的罐子被珍視並流傳下來，現在收藏於東京國立博物館、大分縣立博物館、新加坡的亞洲文明博物館和倫敦的V&A。

A five-ear loop Sancai green, yellow, and purple glazed pottery jar made in late-Ming 16th century Southern China with appliqué such as flowers and leaves pasted onto the surface is commonly known as the Tradescant jar, named after British botanist John Tradescant.

This type of jars found their way to Momoyama Japan and exported to Polynesia at the same time. In Japan, shards have been unearthed from the ruins of the medieval Otomo clan Funai-cho in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu; the Nara Kofuku-ji Ichijo-in ruins; and the Tokyo Shiodome ruins.

This type of jar was treasured and passed down, now in the collection of Tokyo National Museum, Oita Prefectural Museum, Asian Civilization Museum in Singapore, and V&A in London. #トラディスカント #華南三彩 #陶磁器 #東博 #三彩

日本的櫻花開滿在京都恬靜的古街和庭園，小千菊丸張著大大的眼睛，看著沿途的櫻花叢花瓣像雨一般飄落，跟在媽媽身後一路來到安國寺。這以後，小千菊丸就是改名叫「周建」的小沙彌。長大後他還有個更響亮的名字——一休和尚，日本臨濟宗的得道高僧。

The cherry blossoms were in full bloom in the graceful gardens and quiet streets of Japan. Little Sengikumaru kept his eyes wide open, watching the flower petals fall like raindrops as he traveled with his mother to Ankokuji, a temple not far from Kyoto. Sengikumaru would later change his name to Shuken when he became a novice monk and then again to Ikkyu after he grew up and became a monk in the Rinzai school of Zen (Zen :”Chan” in Chinese).

I watched Japanese anime Ikkyu San when I was about 8~10 years old, primary school year 2-4. I enjoyed the anime very much, learning the beauty of Japanese Muromachi aesthetics, traditional Buddhist moral principals and Zen wits from each episode. I remembered every time I was reluctant to leave the television even until the ending song..so my mom always had to hurry me up to shower and brush teeth before go to bed for another school day tomorrow. Good old childhood memories.
