The Rebel Salute music festival has been going strong for over 20 years now, and it has rapidly become one of the most eagerly anticipated annual events in all of Jamaica. In fact, it has become increasingly more renown around the entire world. Named after its promoter, Tony Rebel, the event has grown in size year after year. As with every iteration over the past two years, 2017’s Rebel Salute is currently set to take place over two days: January 13th and 14th. The Plantation Cove in Saint Ann Parish will be home to the increasingly sprawling event once more.
The lineup for the 2017 Rebel Salute has largely already been determined. January 13th, 2017 will see performances from the likes of Durite, Bugle, Hopeton James, Ernie Smith, Chezidek, Kelissa, Rasta Indigenous Village, The Wizard, Yvad, The Heptones, Tanta Metro & Devonte, Pluto Shervington, Michael Rose, Nesbeth, and Tony Rebel himself. There are also a host of others already scheduled. The next day, Davianah, Anthony Cruz, Pablo Moses, The Abyssinians ft Bernard Collins, Turbulance, Ray Darwin, Macka B, David Brooks, and I-Otane will take the stage. As of early July 2016, tickets for the 2017 event are not yet available. They will be available in person at the Negril Service Center on Norman Manley Boulevard once they go live however, and Ticket Pal and Yard Ticket will cover the online sales. The previous 2016 event had several tiers, including:
1 – Early Bird – $4,000
2 – General Admission – $4,500
3 – VIP Early Bird – $8,000
4 – VIP Admission – $8,500
If you’re planning on attending in 2017, you may as well take the opportunity to start saving your money as soon as you can. While the pricing is hefty, Rebel Salute is a world class event that offers an experience you won’t find many other places. By all accounts, the cost is well worth it, and you even get to enjoy some time in the beautiful island country of Jamaica in the process.
Many travelers use the event as the centerpiece of a week long stay in the country.
