Carnival 2015 is on.

This was the pronouncement made by Minister of National Security Gary Griffith during a meeting with Carnival stakeholders yesterday. In response to a question on the state of Carnival, Griffith told bandleaders and corporate sponsors that economics shouldn't determine whether Carnival is cancelled. He is also urging calm in the face of an epidemic that has only been reported in a handful of residents in this hemisphere.

“We cannot go into a situation half pregnant wondering if there will be carnival or not, it will affect Carnival,” he said. “So if there is a situation come closer to Carnival, it will be dealt with at that time. But let’s put an end to this linkage between Carnival and Ebola, it does not exist, Carnival is on.”...The Minister says the government will evaluate whatever threat there is to this country’s citizens closer to the 2015 edition of the “Greatest Show on Earth”. The Minister noted that the same amount of visitors expected for Carnival enter the country at Christmas time also.

Visitors to Trinidad and Tobago are reminded that they should:
-Carry some form of identification on their person when attending activities.
-Take public transportation with "H" being the first letter on the number plate.
-Verify the cost of transportation before boarding hired vehicles.
-Avoid dark and lonely areas, ie walking through the Queen's Park Savannah at night.
-Not accept lifts from strangers.
-Not carry around or display large amounts of cash.
-Secure wallets and purses especially in crowded areas.
-Find a police officer if they need assistance

When leaving your households you are reminded that you should:
-Ensure that you secure your premises.
-Secure all ladders and other implements in a locked room.
-Not leave keys in mailboxes or under door mats.
-Notify the police if you are going to be away for long periods.
-Have a friend or relative check the household to remove newspapers, milk and other deliveries.
-Teach your children to lock the doors when they enter.
-Ensure that the property is illuminated at night.
-Be observant when returning home, especially at night.

Drink Water!

We all want to have a good time, that doesn't mean we can't be hydrated at all times. The difference between a great time and a tiring, unpleasant time is simply drinking enough water.

You're going to be quite physical this time of the year, keep a bottle with you, or purchase at what ever venue you're at!

Trust your Intuition

Most often we ignore this, because someone is persuading us to go along with whatever they're doing.

But if something doesn't feel right, it most likely isn't your thing! Everything isn't for everyone. Figure out what you like and don't.
If you don't like something or going somewhere, well don't. You simply have to say "No" once you know it's wrong or not your thing.

People who respect you and care for you, will accept your decision. Those who don't, well think about finding a new friend. Seriously.

Don't Go Alone

This doesn't apply to women alone anymore. Guys, you sometimes think you're a man, you can handle yourself. However, times are changing and thieves move in groups now, called 'organized criminals'.

Women, please have a male companion or at least two female friends you trust and won't abandon you!

Xtasy Mas 2015 ladies what kind of footwear will you be rocking come Carnival Monday and Tuesday 2015, any advice for the newbies and foreign friends? We know the guys have no worries but what about our Xtasy lovelies, would you go with glam or comfort?
