Zita Project

Zita Project Zita Project in the Archaeology, Anthropology, and Ethnography of Southern Tunisia The Zita Project is an international collaboration of scholars and students.

We engage in archaeological and ethnographic methods and practice in the region of Tripolitania, southern Tunisia. Based at the urban mound of Zita—"Olive City" in the Punic language—this protected cultural site contains remains from Carthaginian and Roman eras, including a Roman Forum, a Phoenician sacrificial precinct (Tophet), industrial ceramic and metal zones, and baths. Our staff and student

s examine the cultural evolution, ecology, and history of the site and region from prehistory to the post-Arab Spring.
