A space for creativity, experimentation, and exchange that crosses arts, environmental studies and methodologies of research
مساحة للإبداع والتجريب والتبادل عبر الفنون والدراسات البيئية ومنهجيات البحث Its vision focuses on interconnecting the trajectories between disciplines such as visual arts, humanities, digital technologies, and environmental studies. More specifically, eSseda.lab explores
the themes of borders, landscapes, and memories. The project’s objective is to transform a neglected attic, located at the High Institute of Agronomy of Chott-Meriem (ISA-CM), into a dynamic venue dedicated to creation, experimentation, and artistic and academic exchange. Designed with a transdisciplinary perspective, eSseda.lab aims to bring together a community of researchers, experts, artists, students, and activists, emphasizing local roots while maintaining an international outlook. The space’s programming includes film screenings, debates, artistic residencies, exhibitions, and participatory workshops. eSseda.lab is the result of a partnership between the DELTA Association (a non-profit organization) and the High Institute of Agronomy of Chott-Meriem. The project received support from Mophradat through its Self-organisation 2023 program; this grant was awarded to visual artist Souad Mani in collaboration with curator Marianna Liosi and researcher Wael Garnaoui, exclusively for this stage of the project. Since 2025, the space has been deploying its activities through several hubs: the Cinema section, in collaboration with director Sabrine Herrira; the Landscapes & Territories section, with landscape architect Sondes Zaïer; the Video Arts section, with visual artist Fredj Moussa; and finally the Research & Creation section, which explores multiple forms with Souad Mani. Each year, eSseda.lab publishes an artistic, scientific, and pedagogical journal that documents its activities. This journal is distributed in bookstores in Tunisia and Marseille to contribute to the project’s financial autonomy.
