The works of John Morris spring from exhaustive sketching and illustration, drawing on intensive research. Subjects include among others skeletal bone, muscular structure and the imagery of fashion photography.
Les travaux de John Morris sont le fruit de dessins et d'illustrations exhaustifs, s’appuyant sur des recherches intensives. Les sujets comprennent entre autres l'os du squelette, la structure musculaire comme l'imagerie de la photographie de mode.
Often, prosthetic limbs and super-accentuated body part proportions tie the pieces together, bringing to mind the surreal imagery of anime and the comic strip depictions of superheroes and heroines. He skilfully uses leather, brass, and stainless steel to provide stark contrasts with the warm texture of the wood.
Souvent, des membres prothétiques et des proportions de corps super-accentuées lient les morceaux, apportant à l'esprit l'imagerie surréaliste de l'animé et les représentations de bandes dessinées de super-héros et d'héroïnes. Il utilise avec habileté le cuir, le laiton et l'acier inoxydable pour offrir de forts contrastes avec la texture chaude du bois.
