Developed during Habiiibiji´s residency at Delia Studio — B7L9 Art Centre last March, this new EP « Small Unexpected Things » emerges from a process of experimentation, recording, mixing, and sonic exploration shaped within a shared creative space dedicated to sound practices and independent production.

Blending field recordings, microtonal synthesizers, hypnotic textures, and vocal influences inspired by the ancient Indian Dhrupad tradition, the project unfolds like a sonic diary made of fading memories, intimate moments, and small unexpected things.

Following this residency, HABIIIBIJI will present the EP live on Thursday, May 21 at B7L9 Art Centre alongside L’Art Cène x Atef Younsi for a night of immersive live performances where electronic experimentation, oud improvisation, and layered atmospheres come together.

Join us on Friday, May 22 at 8 PM at B7L9 Art Centre for Azal, an end-of-residency showcase by Mariem Labidi , following the Azal – Saison Méditerranée Residency hosted by from May 16 to 23, 2026.

Supported by the French Institute through the Saison Méditerranée initiative, the residency is dedicated to fostering artistic creation and cultural exchange across the Mediterranean, with artistic direction and production led by Global Art Production .

Developed during a week of research, experimentation, and collective work, Azal unfolds as an immersive musical journey shaped through the residency process. This showcase marks the culmination of that creative experience, offering audiences a first live encounter with the project in its evolving form.

Join us on Thursday May 21, at B7L9 Art Centre for a night where electronic experimentation, ancestral sounds, and immersive live performance come together in a layered concert featuring Habiiibiji and L’Art Cène x Atef Younsi.

HABIIIBIJI unveils a new EP mixed and mastered at Delia Studio, weaving together microtonal synthesizers, hypnotic arpeggiators, textured field recordings, and voice inspired by the ancient Indian Dhrupad tradition. Between vibrating drones and evolving rhythms, the project opens a sonic space suspended between trance, ritual, and futurity.

The evening continues with a new live performance by L’Art Cène and Atef Younsi, where electronic textures meet the expressive depth of the oud. Through improvisation, raw sonic matter, oriental melodies, and rhythmic experimentation, the duo creates an organic dialogue between tradition and innovation, a moving soundscape in perpetual transformation.

A concert inviting audiences to cross borders, drift through layered atmospheres, and experience music as a space of tension, poetry, and collective immersion.

Surrealist Writing in North Africa and in the Diaspora

Join us at B7L9 Art Centre on Wednesday, May 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for the last lecture performance “Surrealist Writing in North Africa and in the Diaspora” — Listening Act 4 by Mohamed Ali Ltaief , featuring Haikel Hazgui & Anas Ghrab.

‘Surrealist and Experimental Writing in North Africa and in the Diaspora’ is the final series of lectures and listening acts conceived by
Mohamed Ali Ltaief as part of the exhibition I Hear the Old Sound of the World’s Future and its public programme.
In Tunis, we engage with writers and thinkers who practice and theorise forms of poetic resistance against various forms of epistemic oppression and their consequences. Departing from the ‘Taht Essour Collective’ (meaning
‘under the ramparts’) in 1930s Tunis, as well as from Egyptian surrealism and the works of writers and musicians such as Ted Jones, Georges Henein, Sylvia Wynter, Frantz Fanon, Joyce Mansour, Don Lee and W.E.B. Du Bois, among others. We delve into the realm of existential writing, examining it from within and beyond the boundaries of entrapment, reduction and conceptual and sensory intrusion. We cover our ears to hear better, discerning meaning within the confines and openings of our praxis and poetics of being in the world.

Join us on Thursday, May 14 at 8 PM at B7L9 Art Centre for Illbucks Live concert, following a rehearsal residency at B7L9 ahead of his upcoming international festival appearances in 2026 through the GrassrEUts program.

Winner of the Tunisian edition of the GrassrEUts program, Illbucks is a Tunisian rapper, singer, and producer blending hip-hop, R&B, and pop influences into a distinctive style, brought to life through a live sonic experience. He performs alongside Bechir Jelassi (drums), Issam Azouzi (guitar), and Nadim Chihaoui (keys and synths), creating a dynamic and immersive band-driven show.

As part of this trajectory, and in preparation for his upcoming appearances on international stages such as Sziget Festival in Hungary, Illbucks and his full band will undertake a rehearsal residency at Delia Studio. This working phase will culminate in a live showcase on May 14, conceived as a pivotal moment of artistic refinement ahead of his international performances.

Illbucks هو الفائز بالنسخة التونسية من برنامج GrassrEUts، وهو مغنّي راب ومؤدٍّ ومنتج تونسي يمزج بين الهيب هوب وR&B والبوب في أسلوب موسيقي متفرّد يتجلّى في تجربة حيّة نابضة. ويصاحبه على الركح بشير الجلاصي (طبول)، عصام العزوزي (غيتار)، ونديم الشيحاوي (آلات مفاتيح وسينثسايزر)، ليقدّموا معًا عرضًا موسيقيًا ديناميكيًا وفريدا.

وفي إطار هذا المسار، واستعدادًا لعروضه المقبلة على منصّات دولية مثل مهرجان Sziget Festival في المجر، يحضى Illbucks مع فرقته الكاملة، بفرصة إقامة فنية ضمن Delia Studio. وتُختتم هذه المرحلة بعرض غنائي يوم 14 ماي، والذي يُمثّل محطة أساسية لصقل المشروع الفني قبل الانطلاق نحو المشاركات الدولية.

Wayward Voices in Interwar Modern Art: Grammatology versus Geo-Philosophies
Lecture – Listening Act 3

Join us at B7L9 Art Centre on Wednesday, May 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM for the forthcoming lecture performance “Wayward Voices in Interwar Modern Art: Grammatology versus Geo-Philosophies” — Listening Act 3 by Mohamed Ali Ltaief, featuring Naima Hassan, curator and researcher based in Berlin (Managing editor Contemporary And (C&)), as a speaker, and Mounir Hentati as respondent.

As part of the I HEAR THE OLD SOUND OF THE WORLD’S FUTURE exhibition and public programme of lectures, listening acts and live works, Mohamed-Ali Ltaief’s lecture performance negotiates and re-contextualizes the genealogy of early music records in Tunisia / North Africa and in the diaspora.
It situates transnational identities and engages with fragmented biographies of interwar artists, music producers, and dancers who performed in the first decade of the twentieth century.

Ltaief expands the connections with the Arab and African diaspora, specifically focusing on singular histories such as the “Baidaphon” music label (founded in Berlin-Mitte, 1912); the Tunisian artists they recorded; the involvement of performing and sound artists in the anti-colonial and anti-fascist era in North Africa and in exile.

Ltaief’s lecture intertwines with scattered counter-archives that can be read in sound catalogues such as the independent music labels: “Oum-El-Hassen” Tunis 30s, “Rssaissi” Tunis 30s, “Fiesta” Paris 40s, “Maksoud” NYC 10—30s, and “Wardatone” Detroit, USA 50s.

A guided tour will take place before the lecture performance.

Wayward Voices in Interwar Modern Art: Grammatology versus Geo-Philosophies

يقدّمها محمد علي لطيّف، بمشاركة نعيمة حسن، قيّمة وباحثة مقيمة في برلين (مديرة تحرير Contemporary And (C&)) كمتدخّلة، ومنير الهنتاتي كمُعقّب.

تندرج هذه المحاضرة ضمن معرض وبرنامج «أسمع الصوت القديم للعالم الآتي»، الذي يجمع بين محاضرات وجلسات سماع وعروض حيّة.

ضمن هذا العمل الأدائي، يعيد محمد علي لطيّف التفاوض حول جينالوجيا التسجيلات الموسيقية المبكرة في تونس / شمال إفريقيا وفي المهجر، ويضعها في سياقات جديدة. كما يتناول مسألة الهويات العابرة للحدود، وينخرط مع السير الذاتية المجزأة لفناني وفنانات، ومنتجي موسيقى وراقصين وراقصات من فترة ما بين الحربين، والذين نشطوا خلال العقد الأول من القرن العشرين.

يوسّع الفنان هذا البحث ليشمل روابط مع الشتات العربي والأفريقي، مع اهتمام خاص بتواريخ مهمّة مثل شركة الإنتاج الموسيقي بيضافون (التي تأسست في برلين-ميته سنة 1912)، والفنانين التونسيين الذين سجّلت لهم، إضافة إلى دور فناني الأداء والصوت في الحركات المناهضة للاستعمار والفاشية في شمال إفريقيا وفي المنفى.

تتشابك هذه المحاضرة مع أرشيفات مضادّة متفرقة، يمكن تتبّعها عبر كتالوجات صوتية لشركات تسجيل مستقلة، من بينها:
أم الحسن (تونس، الثلاثينات)، الرصايصي (تونس، الثلاثينات)، فييستا (باريس، الأربعينات)، مقصود (نيويورك، 1910–1930) و Wardatone (ديترويت، الولايات المتحدة، الخمسينات).
