The original reference image was taken from a television broadcast of the Coronation Ceremony of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
The entire composition remains unchanged, but all lighting and shadow were completely redesigned.
The likeness of King Charles III was refined using additional reference images of His Majesty.
The painting took nearly two years to complete.
