Introduction – “In Fields Once Torn”
As Canadians, November 11 stands as a solemn reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of those who served our nation in times of war and peace.
A few years ago, I wrote a poem entitled “In Fields Once Torn,” inspired by the timeless verses of Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae’s “In Flanders Fields.” Written in 1915 during the First World War, McCrae’s poem captures the haunting beauty of the poppies that grew amid the graves of fallen soldiers in Flanders, symbolizing both remembrance and renewal.
This year, I transformed my poem into a song—brought to life through the use of advanced AI technology—and further evolved it into a commemorative music video. This project was created to honour all Canadian veterans—men and women alike—who fought valiantly to defend freedom and preserve peace, and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I invite you to watch and reflect on this tribute on November 11, 2025, at 11:11 a.m., as we stand united in remembrance.
