How do the 13 ethnic communities come together? 🩵🧡💛💚
Even though our Ethnic Craft Fair: Community Charms, Handicrafts, and Local Flavors is over, our memories, bodies of knowledge, and experiences are still carried on under the Indigenous Cultural Entrepreneurship Project, implemented by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (Public Organization) (SAC).
In the past two years, SAC has been working with the 13 ethnic communities located in northern, northeastern, and western Thailand by equipping them with cultural entrepreneurship skills, buliding the network of ethnic entrepreneurs, and expanding a market opportunity for ethnic communities to be recognized as crucial economic drivers in Thai society.
Our past activities include cultural entrepreneurship skills trainings, e.g., business plan writing, cultural products and services storytelling, cost calculation, media creation, and packaging development, where the balance between economic and cultural values was inseparably incorporated in each process.
SAC also provides funding to each ethnic community to design contextualized and participatory cultural products and services development activities, supports consignment of cultural products, and empowers communities to hold ethnic markets to meet new customers and present their own stories.
