CALLING ALL (ASPIRING) PLAYWRIGHTS!!!

Who gets to tell the story? What happens when silence becomes the loudest character in the room?

We present to you Theatre as Testimony — an 8-week playwriting programme for emerging playwrights across Eswatini. Supported by Ludziwo Arts Foundation this programme seeks to assist writers (ages 18-35) craft original short plays that don’t just entertain, but challenge, educate, heal, and transform communities.

You DON’T need to be a professional playwright.
You DO need curiosity, commitment, and respect for the craft.

As Coyi Theatre grows, it is only right to officially introduce the person behind it.

My name is Siyethemba Dlamini a.k.a. Siye. I am the founder of Coyi Theatre and a multidisciplinary creative working across theatre, storytelling, and media production.

I care deeply about how stories are told and I believe that theatre is more than just performance. It is a space for witnessing, questioning, discovering, and imagining something better.

Coyi exists to nurture emerging storytellers and performers who want to tell stories that matter. Stories that reflect our communities with honesty, complexity, and most importantly, dignity.

If you have been following quietly, supporting, sharing, or believing in this work — thank you. We’re just getting started and we are excited for all that is to come.

With love and gratitude,
Siye.
