๐Ÿ”ด SOUTH SUDAN TO LAUNCH INTER-PARTY DIALOGUE AHEAD OF DECEMBER 2026 ELECTIONS

South Sudan is set to launch a nationwide inter-party dialogue next month as part of renewed efforts to build political consensus ahead of the planned December 2026 general elections.

According to information shared by the Office of the Senior Envoy on Special Programs, the dialogue will bring together all registered political parties, including groups that are not part of the current peace process, to discuss key national issues and the electoral roadmap.

The initiative aims to promote inclusive political participation, strengthen democratic processes, and create a conducive environment for peaceful and credible elections.

Officials say the dialogue will provide a platform for political actors to address outstanding concerns, foster mutual understanding, and contribute to national unity as the country prepares for the upcoming polls.

The move is seen as a significant step toward encouraging broader political engagement and advancing South Sudan's transition toward democratic governance.

Adut Kiir, held a consultative meeting with the Minister of Culture, Museums and National Heritage, Hon. Sarah Nyanath Elijah Yong, to explore avenues for collaboration in advancing national development, cultural preservation, heritage promotion, and socio-economic empowerment.

During the meeting, the Minister highlighted key institutional and operational challenges facing the Ministry, particularly resource constraints affecting the implementation of priority national programmes.

In response, Hon. Adut Kiir reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the Ministry within the scope of her mandate and pledged to explore opportunities for facilitating initiatives of national significance.

The discussions also focused on the Ministryโ€™s upcoming international engagements, including the planned mission to France concerning the submission of the Bomaโ€“Badingilo Migratory Landscape dossier to UNESCO.

A key agenda item was the development of the Dr. John Garang Memorial and Museum Complex. Both leaders emphasized the importance of transforming the site into a premier national heritage institution that preserves the legacy of the Founding Father of the Nation while serving as a center for education, research, tourism, and civic engagement.

They underscored the need for enhanced planning, infrastructure development, and resource mobilization to achieve tangible progress before the end of the year.

The meeting further explored opportunities to leverage South Sudanโ€™s cultural and heritage assets as drivers of economic growth, job creation, and community empowerment. || The Senior Presidential Envoy Hon. Adut Kiir Mayardit meets the AUMISS Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission who also doubles as the former Prime Minister of Somalia, H.E Abdiweli Mohammed Ali today, in an engagement meeting that reaffirmed the AU position in support of the South Sudanโ€™s upcoming elections in December 2026, H.E President Kiir's commitment to peace and stability.

The special representative commended and applauded the current efforts by H.E President Salva Kiir in calling for dialogue with the 2018 peace agreement holdout groups that is to be headed by the former President of Tanzanian, H.E Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete.
