SPLM anniversary moves to Juba Stadium to Prioritize public comfort
The organizers of the highly anticipated SPLM/SPLA Formation Anniversary have officially shifted the venue from the John Garang Mausoleum to Juba Stadium, citing the need to ensure maximum comfort and accessibility for thousands of expected attendees.
The historic event, marking the 1983–2026 journey of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army, will now take place at the larger, better-equipped stadium, allowing the public to celebrate in a more spacious and secure environment.
According to planning officials, the move was made to accommodate the growing number of supporters and to provide proper seating, shade, and facilities—things the mausoleum grounds could not guarantee at the required scale.
President H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, who serves as SPLM Chairman, will grace the occasion as the Guest of Honor. He will be joined by the First SPLM Deputy Chairperson, Prof. James Wani Igga, alongside all prominent senior members of the party. The day’s Patron, SPLM Secretary General Dr. Akol Paul, will also be in attendance.
Beyond the political significance, organizers have promised a vibrant entertainment lineup to match the celebratory mood. Leading the performances will be fan-favorite artist Bro Winner, joined by DJ Cent Mr. Norest, Juna de Star, PG Machar, and Single De.
“The heroes and heroines of our liberation struggle will be remembered forever,” read a statement from Bro Winner the guest artist. “And we want the people of South Sudan to honor them in dignity and joy.”
The event is expected to draw tens of thousands to Juba Stadium, with security and medical teams already deployed to ensure a smooth celebration.
