أفادت السلطات في مقاطعة ناصر بولاية أعالي النيل بمقتل 17 شخصًا على الأقل خلال اشتباك بين المدنيين وقوات قوات الدفاع الشعبي لجنوب السودان يوم الأربعاء 16 أكتوبر.

بدأ الحادث، الذي أسفر عن سقوط ضحايا من الجانبين المدني والمسلح، أمس حوالي الساعة 3 مساءً واستمر لمدة أربع ساعات.

صرح المفوض جيمس جاتلواك أن المدنيين الجرحى من الرجال والأطفال، وأن الأغلبية من النساء.

شارك هذه التفاصيل خلال مقابلة حصرية مع هذا الصباح في مقاطعة ناصر بولاية أعالي النيل.

دعا جيمس جاتلواك الفصائل العسكرية الموحدة لاستعادة النظام وتسهيل الحلول السلمية في مقاطعة ناصر.

وقال: "إن الطريقة الوحيدة لإحلال السلام في ناصر هي من خلال حل سلمي للصراع. أقترح دمج هذه القوات في قيادة موحدة، لأن هذا ضروري لتحقيق الاستقرار الدائم في ناصر".

BREAKING NEWS: President Kiir and his 5 vice presidents have agreed to extend the transitional period for two more years and elections have been postponed to December 2026.

According to the Office of President, a consensus was reached at the level of Presidency in a meeting today.

Presidential Adviser on National Security, Tut Gatluak said the extension is an opportunity to implement the critical remaining protocols in R-ARCSS, such as the permanent constitution process, census, and the registration of political parties.

On his part, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro said the extension is in response to the recommendations from both electoral institutions and the security sector. Citing pending critical tasks necessary for the successful conduct of elections, necessitating the delay, saying there is a need for additional time to complete essential tasks before the polls.

The Minister further stressed that the government will not be dissolved and will continue to function as usual while the institutions work to finalize their provisions.
