Mr. Angelo Aguot Deng Piol – Professional Biography
Mr. Angelo Aguot Deng Piol is a distinguished finance and accounting expert with more than 20 years of dedicated service in South Sudan’s public sector. He currently serves as Deputy Commissioner for Internal Affairs, and previously worked as the Deputy Commissioner for States Affairs and Non-Tax within the Domestic Tax Revenue Division of the National Revenue Authority (NRA). His leadership in tax administration, revenue policy, and compliance has made a notable impact on the country’s domestic resource mobilization efforts.
Mr. Deng is academically accomplished, holding two master’s degrees—in Business Administration (Accounting & Finance) and Public Policy (Tax Policy)—from the University of Juba. He is also pursuing a PhD in Business Administration at Atlantic International University in the USA. His foundational studies include a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and a Diploma in Management Accounting and Finance.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Deng has held several strategic roles, including Acting Commissioner of Domestic Tax, Assistant Commissioner of Revenue Reconciliation, and Assistant Director of Audit and Revenue Generation. He has been instrumental in developing tax policy frameworks and improving revenue collection mechanisms in both national and state-level institutions.
Mr. Deng has also undergone high-level international training in tax administration, revenue management, VAT systems, and mining sector taxation, with programs attended in countries such as Japan, Australia, South Africa, and the UAE.
Renowned for his professionalism, attention to detail, and strategic thinking, Mr. Deng continues to play a vital role in shaping the fiscal landscape of South Sudan. He is an advocate of ethical leadership, institutional growth, and public sector reform.
