BETWEEN YESTERDAY AND TODAY.
Simeon K✍️
He pleaded with immense passion
for her to stay with them;
His knees dead low to the ground
Hands like one praying "The Lord's Prayer"
As oceans came off his eyes
Asking his lover to stay, not leave.
Rage choked my throat watching him,
As thoughts and resolves queued my mind.
He paid the bills and fed their bellies
His presence an illuminating resonance,
Every woman would run to have him to herself
So, why should he stoop so low?
That moment, I spoke in silent serious profession:
I will never ever repeat this disgrace of manhood.
If love were to force me to, I will cut its grip off me
And find another and start again;
if only I were to love again.
Little did I know, in the morning a similar tale
awaits my inexperienced mind
Maybe, one worst than his.
We were just young lovers, few months old
Like a blink, something happened, it origin unknown
I watched her go, ignited by the resolves of old.
Today, an emptiness fill my soul
An inexplicable yearning desecrates my sanity
Like emissaries sent by destiny.
Maybe, they are here to teach lessons
To give me a piece of wisdom.
I stand between the fences of judgements,
With a void so deep;
To hold to those resolutions of old
Or, journey to her like the prodigal son
And seek her forgiveness to fill this hollow within
And restore this heart from destruction.
