In another milestone marking the wrap-up of BossLady Creatifest 2025, a cash award of NLe 3,000 was formally presented to the winner of the Community Choice Award, Madam Fatmata Ishmatu Bangura, CEO of Ishma’s Supplies, at her business premises on Abacha Street, Freetown.

The presentation followed the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the handing over of the cheque, and the presentation of the Award Certificate, underscoring the platform’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

Speaking at the event, Fatmata Fathima Kamara, Founder of Thimzy Empowerment Initiative and host organization of the BossLady Creatifest Business Pitch Competition, reaffirmed the Initiative’s dedication to sustainable empowerment for women and girls through livelihood creation, which remains a core priority of Thimzy’s work. She emphasized that the BossLady platform exists not only to ignite ideas and ambitions, but also to support stability, growth, and long-term impact. She further noted that the platform is firmly grounded in the principles of accountability, fairness, transparency, and results-driven programming.

In her remarks, Madam Fatmata I. Bangura expressed deep gratitude to the platform and organizers for the opportunity to showcase her business. She shared her personal journey, noting that she never imagined standing before an audience or competing alongside formally educated participants. As a single mother of four, she explained that she bears full responsibility for her children’s education, daily sustenance, clothing, and shelter. She stated that the funds will enable her to increase her stock, boost sales and profits, and gradually build savings toward independently importing her supplies, as she currently operates on credit. She also highlighted that her business supports other women by sharing opportunities with them. Madam Bangura concluded by assuring the organizers that the funds would be used strictly for their intended purpose.

Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Ade, a renowned trader on Abacha Street and introduced as the Godmother of Madam Bangura, commended Thimzy Empowerment Initiative for the transparent and accountable manner in which the entire competition was conducted. She expressed her satisfaction with the process and pledged to support oversight of the fund utilization, ensuring that the award serves its intended purpose.

Thimzy Empowerment Initiative extends special appreciation to all partners, supporters, and stakeholders whose contributions made BossLady Creatifest 2025 a resounding success.

Update: BossLady Creatifest 2025

On Saturday, 13 December 2025, Thimzy Empowerment Initiative successfully climaxed the activities of BossLady Creatifest 2025 with the official presentation of the grand prize to the winner of the BossLady Business Start-Up Pitch Competition.

A cheque of NLe 10,000 was formally presented to Ms. Esther Sia Sourie, Chief Executive Officer of Thersia’s Touch School of Beauty and Creativity, at the institution’s training centre in Jui, Freetown.

Thersia’s Touch emerged as the winner of this year’s pitch competition as a result of years of consistency, resilience, and unwavering commitment to its entrepreneurial journey—driven by creativity, innovation, and a clear focus on empowering women and girls. This achievement truly reflects the spirit of the festival’s theme:
“Ignite Her Spark: Advancing Creativity, Innovation, and Local Brilliance for an Empowered Future.”

Standing out amid strong competition, Thersia’s Touch demonstrated that it is not merely a profit-driven enterprise, but a purpose-led institution that embodies empowerment, impact, and social value.

The handover ceremony also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Thimzy Empowerment Initiative and Thersia’s Touch, alongside the presentation of certificates and the official cheque. The event was witnessed by staff of Thimzy Empowerment Initiative, as well as the staff and students of Thersia’s Touch.

Going forward, Thimzy Empowerment Initiative will provide strategic support and monitoring oversight to ensure the effective and accountable utilization of the funds. In addition, Thersia’s Touch has been formally recognized as the Official Brand Ambassador for BossLady Creatifest – Thimzy Empowerment Initiative (2025–2026).

In her response, Ms. Esther Sia Sourie expressed deep appreciation to Thimzy Empowerment Initiative for upholding the values of fairness, transparency, and accountability, and for delivering a genuinely credible competition. In her words:
“This competition is indeed different. In some others, you are asked to share the prize, but here I received exactly what was promised from the beginning, “NLe 10,000”. I will ensure that the funds are used for their intended purpose, to make Thimzy Empowerment Initiative proud and to uphold its values at the highest level.”

The event was truly a moment of celebration, reaffirming Thimzy Empowerment Initiative’s commitment to illuminating pathways for women and girls in Sierra Leone.

The journey continues-2026, here we come.
