Hello world! Allow us to introduce the first published Poet from our hub of Creatives, Akorede Egunjobi , alias OAKdeen....

Hello world! Allow us to introduce the first published Poet from our hub of Creatives, Akorede Egunjobi , alias OAKdeen.
This young man joined us in 2021, and has done nothing but grow and develop his skills as a Writer, Poet, and Spoken Words Artiste.

He has performed in several stages, ranging from Pull Na Doe, Spoken Word Revelation, and Rise & Riot.

He is a joint author of the ‘I Anthology’, which was published by . The anthology featured ten Sierra Leonean and Zimbabwean Poets, who depicted what it means to be themselves in the setting of their locality.

The anthology is a community project, and will be distributed to schools and centers, to forster Art and the culture of reading.

We are proud that one of our own has achieved such a milestone. He now signs out from his artistic career, but I’m sure one day, he will be back. We wish him the very best in his endeavors until then.

Since last year, Inkundla Spaces has been organizing several events to support Art and Poetry. One notably event is The Rise & Riot Poetry Slam. The Slam comprised five heats that were organized, beginning in February 2024, and the top 3 were to compete in the Grand Finale on the 2nd of November, 2024. Admire Bonnie, Akorede Egunjobi (OAKdeen), and Ibrahim Munu (Not Just Another Writer) represented us at the heats and made top 3 in their distinct heats the participated.

From the Grand Finale, OAKdeen took 9th place, Admire Bonnie made 4th place, and Not Just Another Writer was the 2nd Runner Up.

Overdose, a brilliant Poet who also participated, took 1st Runner up, and Poet Dee won the Grand Finale.

What was interesting was the fact that the top three each won the heats they competed in, clearly showing that they were the Poets to watch for the Finale.

Congratulations to Not Just Another Writer, our Coordinator, and our two amazing Poets, Admire and OAKdeen, as well as the Poet Dee and Overdose.

We also want to give Inkundla their flowers for organizing the Inkundla Arts Festival, which featured this Slam Final, as well as other wonderful events our Creatives from The Platform Poetry have benefited from. You guys will always be part of our community, and our space. Thank you!
