Sometimes the smallest question carries the biggest comfort.
“How are you?”

Not as a greeting to rush past — but as a pause, a check-in, a gentle reminder that someone sees you.
For a person quietly carrying a hard day, those three words can feel like a hand on the shoulder that says,
“You matter. I noticed. I care.”

Never underestimate kindness in simple words. They can lighten burdens you cannot see.

I still remember climbing nearly 400 steps — legs burning, breath shortening, wondering if the view at the top could truly be worth it.
And then, there it was.

The quiet majesty of Mount Fuji rising beyond the beautiful Chureito Pagoda — timeless, graceful, and humbling in a way words can barely hold. Beneath it, Fujiyoshida stretched quietly below, while nature framed the moment like a painting.

Sometimes, the climb is steep not to test us — but to prepare our hearts for wonder.
And some views stay with you long after you’ve climbed back down.

Two gardens. Two philosophies. One timeless search for peace.

A Chinese garden creates an oasis by embracing harmony with nature — winding paths, quiet ponds, weathered stones, and thoughtful spaces designed for reflection, stillness, and inner peace. It is nature miniaturized, inviting the soul to wander inward.

A Western garden, by contrast, shapes nature through symmetry, order, and design — sweeping lawns, sculpted hedges, and grand floral displays created to inspire awe, beauty, and celebration of human artistry.

One whispers serenity.
One declares splendor.
Both, in their own way, are humanity’s attempt to create paradise on earth.

An oasis doesn’t always have to be far away.

Sometimes, it’s right in our own backyard — a quiet corner where the mind softens, the body rests, and the heart remembers how to be still.

My first oasis is my backyard — where sunlight dances on leaves, birdsong fills the air, and peace quietly finds me. What’s yours?

Wandering through Zhangjiajie, I learned about the rich spirit of Tujia culture—where love, song, and tradition are woven into everyday life.
And it made me wonder…

If Romeo were Tujia, would he climb mountains, cross rivers, and sing beneath Juliet’s window until she appeared?

Some love stories belong to every culture.

Rapunzel in Zhangjiajie?

This April, while traveling through the misty pillars of Zhangjiajie, I kept imagining a familiar fairy tale in an unfamiliar place.
What if Rapunzel’s tower stood on Hallelujah Mountain?
Those towering quartz pillars rise hundreds of meters into the clouds. If Rapunzel let down her hair from the top…
how long would it need to be?
And how long would Prince Charming need to climb before he finally reached her?

Suddenly a story I’ve known since childhood felt entirely new.
I love playing with these “what if” moments in my sketchbook —
✨ What happens when a classic Western fairy tale is placed inside an ancient Chinese landscape?
✨ Do the emotions of the story stay the same?
✨ Or does the setting reshape the story itself?

Maybe Rapunzel wouldn’t be trapped in a stone tower…
Maybe she’d live in a wooden pavilion above the clouds.

Travel has a way of doing this to the imagination.
A place becomes a new stage for old stories.
This sketch idea is the beginning of a small exploration:
Reimagining classic tales through landscapes of the world.
If Rapunzel lived on Zhangjiajie’s Hallelujah Mountain…

what do you think would change?

PART 6 — The Witch

Every journey meets its challenge.
Lily faces the witch—her greatest test.
A flight against fear.
The theme of flight comes full circle here:
from leaving, to climbing, to imagining… to standing her ground.
Because bravery isn’t the absence of fear—
it’s choosing to move forward anyway.

PART 5 — Into the Light

And then… she chooses.
Lily steps forward and disappears into the light.
This is her leap—her taking flight.
The moment she moves from observer to adventurer.

In illustration, this is where movement, emotion, and pacing come together.

PART 4 — The Blue Light

Some doors aren’t meant to stay closed.
Lily watches her grandpa’s dog… disappear into a mysterious blue light.
This is where reality bends.
Where flight of fancy begins.

Moments like this shift the story—pulling both character and reader into the unknown.

PART 3 — The Staircase
Curiosity is the spark.
What’s at the top of the staircase?

This moment captures Lily’s hesitation and wonder—her first step into flight of stairs, both literal and symbolic.
In storytelling, this is where tension builds… the quiet before everything changes.
