Two magical nights, one unforgettable collaboration👯🎶
The Singapore National Youth Orchestra and Singapore Ballet brought Ravel's complete ballet Ma mère l’Oye (Mother Goose) to life at the Esplanade Concert Hall, transporting audiences into a world of fairy tales through music and dance. Alongside the ballet, SNYO also performed Schubert's Symphony No. 2 to Choo-San Goh's choreography, and Brahms' Academic Festival Overture, under the baton of Music Director Joshua Tan. Last week, the SNYO Percussion Ensemble shared the excitement of percussion with the students, alongside SSO Principal Timpanist Christian Schiøler. Students experienced the energy, colour and teamwork behind a live percussion performance. Thank you for having us! We hope the experience inspires more young musicians to explore the world of music 🎶

12-year-old violinist Cathy Chen Xi shone as soloist in Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4 alongside re:Sound musicians, while more than 20 young musicians from the SNYO and schools across Singapore performed side by side in works by Wojciech Kilar and Franz Schubert.

Watch musicians and dancers improvise in real time, with no script at all. Catch SNYO & Singapore Ballet on this journey of shared creation, culminating in full performances of Schubert Symphony No. 2 (choreographed by Choo-San Goh) & Ravel’s Mother Goose (Complete Ballet) choreographed by three of Singapore Ballet’s very own dancers!

Performed with the Singapore National Youth Orchestra under the baton of Joshua Tan, this enchanting collaboration brings fairytales to life through dance and music.
