We are in the early days of the sacred month of Zulhiijah. In a few days’ time, the blessed pilgirms in Makkah will begin their Hajj rites, leading up to the peak days of ‘Arafah (26 May), ‘Eidul Adha (27 May), followed by the days of Tashriq (28-30 May).
All these are sacred events, and we in Singapore, despite not performing the Hajj, can still honour and observe them through acts like fasting, Qurban, Takbir, and silaturrahmi (visiting during ‘Eidul Adha).
It is also highly recommended to enliven the night of ‘Eidul Adha, meaning spending whatever time we are able in worship and remembrance such that the night comes alive. The least we should do is to pray Maghrib, Isha and Fajr in congregation. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that whoever gives life to the nights before the two Eids, Allah will give life to his heart on the day when hearts die. (Ibn Majah)
He ﷺ also said, “There are five nights on which dua is not rejected: the first night of Rajab, the fifteenth night of Sha’ban, Thursday night, the night before Eid al-Fitr and the night before Eid al-Nahr (al-Adha).” (At-Tabarani)
That is why Revamp has been consistently holding gatherings on the nights of ‘Eids. And this year won’t be any different. Join us on 26th May 7 PM onwards where will we break our fast (for those fasting the day of ‘Arafah) and have dinner together, pray Maghrib and Isha’ in jemaah, supplicate for our oppressed brothers and sisters, listen to Qasidahs, play fire sparkles for kids, and most uniquely, recite the Takbir together. (revamp.sg/takbir-of-eid)
We can recite the Takbir continuously non-stop that night, whereas once the ‘Eid prayers has been performed the following morning, we can only recite them after prayers (on the proceeding days of Tashriq).
Ultimately, we intend that all these will count as us fulfilling the Sunnah and honouring the moments which Allah (ﷻ) sanctifies. Hope you can join us for it!
May Allah allow us to take full benefit of these blessed days.
May He protect and accept the pilgrims doing their Hajj.
May we all be amongst those invited for Hajj soon.
