Spectre-6 sit somewhere between control and drift.

A Singapore-based band blending synth-driven darkwave with guitar-heavy atmospherics — structured, but never fixed.

Fresh from headlining a show in Manila, they return carrying that same tension.

What runs through their music isn’t commentary, but something more internal — fragments of the social and political, pulled inward and left unresolved.

Less about saying anything clearly.
More about how it lingers.

Their debut single By The Beach is out now.

slump have been steadily emerging out of the SG underground with a sound that leans fully into modern shoegaze - intimate, melancholic, and quietly overwhelming.

Breathy, low-slung vocals.
Guitars that wash over instead of cut through.
Songs that feel suspended - like they’re drifting but never losing direction.

Part of a new wave reshaping the local shoegaze space, slump bring a kind of emotional immediacy that hits you.

Phantom Haze have been quietly building something dense and immersive in the local scene - a sound that sits somewhere between shoegaze haze and post-rock weight.

Walls of reverb.
Slow-burning crescendos.
Moments that feel like they might collapse, but never quite do.

Fresh off their Japan tour, they return sharper, tighter, and louder - carrying that same intensity across borders and back into the room.

Lion City Rock is the official podcast of the Big O 40th Anniversary Festival, dedicated to uncovering Singapore’s rich pop, indie, and alternative music history. Hosted by Kevin Mathews and Chris Toh, two veterans of the local music scene, the podcast explores the artists, bands, and industry figures who have shaped Singapore’s soundscape.

Kevin Mathews is a highly respected singer-songwriter, composer, and music journalist best known for fronting The Watchmen, whose 1993 hit My One and Only became a Singapore indie classic. He later formed Popland, has composed music for films and TV, and runs the Power of Pop blog and KAMCO Music, championing independent artists.

Chris Toh was a music journalist, musician, and broadcaster who wrote extensively for publications like TODAY. He was also a member of the band AWOL, releasing the album Midnight in June. His deep involvement in music journalism and performance made him an insightful voice in documenting Singapore’s music evolution.

The podcast features exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes stories, and deep dives into Singapore’s music past and present. New episodes drop weekly.

As the official MCs of the Big O Festival, Kevin and Chris will bring their vast knowledge and personal experiences to guide audiences through this milestone celebration of Singaporean indie music.
