Hello Flowers x Astor Atelier - Mother’s Day special event!

Want to tailor-make something special for your mom on this Mother’s Day?

Come and join us to make your own flower basket and dried flowers arrangements.

Date: Saturday, 6th May 2023
Time: 2-4:00pm (2 hours)
Venue: Hello Flowers Workshop@Katong
Fee: SGD120 ( ＇discountSGD108if you register before 01 May)
(including all tools, dried flowers, mini
flower basket, decal papers, and firing fee. Usually, we will finish up the class with a brief tea and snack session.)

During the Mother’s Day workshop, you will learn from our procelarts instructor - Astor, on how to design and assemble the decal papers on the procelain. Lilian - our flower arrangement instructor, will then guide you on how to arrange the dried flowers in the mini basket.

**Remarks: Your Mother’s day gift will be ready for collection 5 days after the class.

Well, what you are looking at now is a contemporary version of Japanese candy box call Ojyuu (お重). Ojyuu is typically used during Japanese new year celebration( more about that in another post later).

The one was also my very first attempt to make Ojyuu in my teacher’s studio back in Hong Kong several years ago!

At that time, I felt that it was very difficult to design and make an Ojyuu from a bare white porcelain.

But as I go through my thinking process and after many rounds of trials and errors, eventually I’ve realised all I need is patience and a steady-hand skillset to cut the decal papers into a form that fit the Ojyuu perfectly. Oh.. and obviously at that time I still could not manage to and needed my teacher to help to complete the Ojyuu design for me.

Fast forward to today, I like to think that I’ve practiced enough ^^ and can managed to make more complicated patterns, and have more steady hand in cutting those topsy curvy lines in some decal papers and even more importantly … cultivated more patience than what I used to have in order to complete making an Ojyuu that bears my creative thinking and research throughout so many years.

So peeps … “Keep trying, don’t give up!” ( 忽忘 初心).

I am making this post because on Boxing Day, I had a workshop class with six very jovial ladies. Each of them has their own sense of aesthetic and creative style.

The class was simply full of hearty laughters and enormous fun throughout the two hours session.

Come and join us to make your own mooncake plate.

Fee: SGD 75.00
Date: 3rd & 4th September 2022
Time: 2 hours per session
10:00-12:00 pm
2:00-4:00 pm
4:30-6:30 pm

Free includes:
1) The white porcelain plate (21x3.8cm).
2) The white rabbit on the plate.
3) Transfer papers and 1 firing fee.
3) All tools are provided.
4) Complimentary snack with tea.

*Please give us 3-5 days duration to fire your art piece. Be patient 🥰.
