The Launch of the WeCare Arts Fund was held at Thye Hwa Kwan Seniors Activity Centre @ Boon Lay. The event was graced by Minister Lawrence Wong and the Mayors and Mayor-Designate from the five CDCs. The invited guests had an enrinching session with the senior participants creating plastic flowers and envrionmentally friendly T-shirt bags. VWOs and artists can now apply for the fund to engage beneficiaries through the creation of art. :)

Seniors from Thye Hwa Kwan Seniors Activity Centre @ Boon Lay participating in an arts activity session with artist, Catherine Chong. The seniors were taught how to create environmentally friendly art works such as plastic flowers and T-shirt bags. The seniors had a great time bonding with each other through the creation of art. These sessions were brought in by WeCare Arts Fund as part of a WeCare @ South West initiative.

The Department of Dance is working with the Crohn's and Colitis Society of Singapore (http://ibd.org.sg/) to put together a short 3-minute flash mob for the World IBD Day on 10 May 2014. The flash mob will form the opening of the event at Suntec Convention Centre. This flash mob is choreographed in synchronization with South Korean counterparts also celebrating World IBD Day. Together, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore will put up a similar flash mob as part of World IBD Day to create awareness. They are encouraging participants from the public and dancers alike to be part of creating awareness of IBD so what are you waiting for? Sign up today! :-)

KidzLearn South West is a programme organised by South West CDC, supported by POSB, POSB PAssion Kids Fund and National Library Board during the school holidays to help K2 Preschoolers better prepare for Primary One.

The intensive enrichment programme will be conducted over 5 days and focus on 3 components: Literacy& Language, Numeracy & Financial Planning and Social & Emotional Development :)
