Momentum - Republic Polytechnic’s Dance Festival, held annually in May since 2008, aims at promoting dance as a form of expression as well as showcasing the best dance talents to be found in schools and institutions of higher learning in Singapore. Holding a special place in the Student Life Calendar of RP, we are always proud to see all our dance groups hold their own amongst some of the best dan
cers from NUS, SMU, NTU, RJC, TP; and schools that have won Gold with Honours at Singapore Youth Festivals, such as Nanyang Girls’ High School, CHIJ (Toa Payoh); and established dance organisations like Dance Spectrum International and Shruti Laya Dance Company. Over the years, we have also featured a wide variety of dance-related fringe events such as photo exhibitions by prominent dance photographer, Dennis Ng, dance film screenings, dance workshops, student choreography showcase by dancers from our own dance groups and dance dialogues with celebrated choreographers and artistic directors. With these exciting fringe events held in the course of one week, it all culminates in a spectacular dance showcase over two evenings in the TRCC Theatre, featuring some the best young dance talents we have in Singapore.
