The BHSO is Singapore's most established community orchestra, bringing classical music to the community, from the community.

It was founded in 1986 under the auspices of the Braddell Heights Community Club. The Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra (BHSO) is Singapore’s most established community orchestra. Established in 1986 under the auspices of the Braddell Heights Community Club, the orchestra has been home for many Singaporean musicians as well as those from around the world to pursue their passion and love for music. Comprising both professional and amateur musicians, the orchestra has a current strength of about 80 members. As of May 2022, BHSO will be a residing arts group at Our Tampines Hub, while the Braddell Heights Community Club undergoes renovation works. 🎶 BHSO 40th Anniversary Gala Concert: Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony 🎶

Join BHSO as we celebrate our 40th Anniversary Gala Concert, honouring four decades of music-making as one of Singapore’s oldest community orchestras.
This special evening celebrates the orchestra’s journey, our commitment to Singapore music, and the passion of our musicians.

The programme reaffirms the orchestra’s commitment to Singapore music, opening with Seem Jia Ang’s “The Journey Ahead” and Tan Chan Boon’s Symphonic Poem “In Memory of Franz Schubert,” Op. 29. The evening also features Chen Yi’s Percussion Concerto, performed by Cheong Kah Yiong.

The celebration culminates in Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C Minor, “Organ Symphony,” featuring organ soloist Loraine Muthiah. Marking the 140th anniversary of this monumental masterpiece, its majestic sonorities and triumphant finale provide a fitting conclusion to this special occasion.

BHSO is delighted to announce the winner of our biennial Concerto Competition.

Congratulations to:
🎼 Cheong Kah Yiong
for his performance of Chen Yi’s Percussion Concerto

He will be featured as the concerto soloist at our upcoming BHSO 40th Anniversary Gala Concert on 30 August 2026 at Victoria Concert Hall.

We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participants for sharing their musical creativity with us. The panel received many imaginative and inspiring submissions, making the selection process both exciting and challenging, with all submissions evaluated through a blind review process.

Congratulations once again to Cheong Kah Yiong.

We look forward to bringing this exciting performance to life on the concert stage!

BHSO is delighted to announce the four selected works from our inaugural 1-Minute Composition Competition.

Their compositions will be featured in upcoming BHSO concerts in 2026 as part of our year-long 40th anniversary celebrations.
