2 more days to our very first Canva for Educators workshop!

I am pretty excited for this because I AM NO DESIGNER and Canva has saved my life countless of times when it comes to doing carousel posts for Instagram and doing slides for the classroom.

And I am also so happy for teachers because Canva accounts for teachers are free and you get to use all the unlimited templates, elements and features in Canva!

In this workshop, you not only explore on the different features of Canva, Liyana (who is a Canva expert) will be sharing on basic Design Principles that you should know (and something that can be taught to your students as well!)

We'll also share how I have applied Canva in my classroom (the good and bad) as well as how we can do collaborative learning through Canva! Yes can do group work one!

In other words, be fruitful wherever you are planted. Such a great reminder to myself as currently I am juggling with a day job, Love Letters as well as being a mummy to my 3 girls (also as a wife, later husband ask why I leave him out😝).

As much as I tell myself to be the best version of myself for all the different hats I put on, there will be times when it can be quite impossible to be at my best. I guess at times it is about quality and not quantity. Example, it is okay if you spend lesser time with your kids, but you gotta make sure you are present and not distracted when you are with them.

Ooops! Sorry if this turned out to be like an entry of a diary instead. 😅

BUT!!! using one of my favourite small nib brush pen! Zebra Funwari! I used to only purchase it from Amazon cos I haven't seen it in and of the local stores. But I was soooo happy that I found it at Think Stationery shop at Funan. Everyone should totally try this pen out! Loving the firmness of the nib and you do not have to think too much especially when you are doing the upstrokes!

SMALL TIP BRUSH PENS: These brush pens are perfect for beginners! The tip is firmer and harder than a large tip brush pen so it's easier to control when you're first starting out.

Inner strength starts with the way you write, the way you feel, and the way you think. Brush Pen calligraphy is a creative outlet that allows anyone to write their innermost feelings and beliefs on paper.

I have to truly thank my brush pens and paper as they were truly an outlet for me to express myself and really just take a break after a busy and hectic day.

Sometimes I told myself, "Okay I am going to spend 30 mins to destress with my brush pens." Next thing I know, when I look at the clock, 2 hours have passed by! hahaha wwwwhhhhhattt! It does feel good of course.

When I first started Brush Pen Calligraphy, these were the 3 mistakes I made which got me so demoralized and felt like a total loser.

Little did I know that having the right tool and techniques are important to have a good head start in Brush Pen Calligraphy. Here are just some tips which I have learnt and shared with many other aspiring letterers for Brush Pen Calligraphy:

✅ Start with a small tip brush pen such as Pentel Fude Touch and Tombow Fudenosuke. These are beginner-friendly brush pens as their nibs are firmer, which allows better control. Large tip brush pens might not be suitable for beginners as their nib is larger and you have to write bigger and requires more control.

✅ Avoid lettering words right away but instead, focus on the 6 fundamental strokes and practice them first

✅ Be mentally prepared to be bad at it first before being good at it. Persevere on and don't give up!

How it started....

VS how it has progressed.

Huge difference? 😅

Because when I first started out I made three HUGE mistakes which was..
❌ using the wrong brush pen
❌ started practicing alphabetically from ABC
❌ thinking that lettering would be as easy as ABC
