Final Fantasy VII is nominated as one of the best-selling PlayStation games and has won several awards! A role-playing video game, the story follows Cloud Strife, a former ex-Shrina soldier who joined an eco-terrorist organisation to stop the evil megacorporation from using the planet's life essence as an energy source. Along the way, they would seek for a superhuman Sephiroth, whose aim is to destroy the world and harness its power to become immortal god. The game works similar to earlier Final Fantasy titles and Japanese role-playing games, with three modes of play usually switching depending on the circumstances: the world map, the field, and battle screen. Outside of battle mode, players can navigate around the area to talk to characters, progress story, scavenge stuff, and buy and sell items for Cloud's party. Either enemies or players can trigger the battle system, each character take turns to inflict damages, boost defense, or heal with available items in the inventory. This also applies to the side of the enemies.
Final Fantasy VII would get a remake titled "Final Fantasy VII Remake" in 2020, a retelling of the original with new gameplay mechanics.
