Very chuffed to report that CultureLink production One Day We'll Understand has been nominated for the Asia Pacific Arts Awards by Creative Australia in recognition of collaborative innovative connections. One Day was presented at AsiaT**A 2025 in Melbourne for which it has concurrently been nominated for Best Design category of Australia's Green Room Awards.

And not forgetting that One Day was the winner for best design in ST's Life! Theatre Awards last year following it's premiere at Esplanade in Aug 2024.

Three big cheers for Esplanade who commissioned the production, the fabulous artists and team - Sim Chi Yin, Cheryl Ong, Tamara Saulwick, Kok Heng Leun, Nick Roux, Andy Lim, Yap Seok Hui, Kylie McRae, and Jocelyn Chng, and our partner Chamber Made! And for myself too!

Wishing all a galloping start to a bountiful and prosperous New Year!

Celebrating Australia’s rich cultural exchange and creative connections in the Asia Pacific through arts and culture.

Wrapped up 2 performances at the Solo Festival, West Kowloon Cultural District. Margaret mesmerised a largely young audience, many of whom waited up to an hour in the queue to speak to her after the show. Dragon Ladies Don't Weep spoke to them and connected deeply with the them, and Margaret generously gave of her time.

Thank you Bobo Lee and team at West Kowloon, hope we can do this again!

This sonic portrait of new music icon Margaret Leng Tan is an evocative exploration of memory, time, control and loss. Performed by Tan with original music by Tan’s long-term collaborator Erik Griswold and created by a team of Singaporean and Australian artists, including director Tamara Saulwick, video designer Nick, and dramaturg Kok Heng Leun, the show has charmed audiences in major festivals in Singapore, Melbourne, Adelaide, Taipei, London, and most recently in Seoul.

A magical sonic portrait of the life of new music icon Margaret Leng Tan — an evocative exploration of memory, time, control and loss

Thank you Team Dragon Ladies in Seoul, especially the indomitable Margaret Leng Tan, now 79 and 3/4 years old, and getting even better with each show, Director Tamara Saulwick, Video Designer Nick Roux, Lighting Designer Andy Lim, Technical/Stage Manager Yap Seok Hui, and Angelina Tan, ex-NAC colleague now working in Seoul who came to volunteer with us!

Not forgetting Kyu Choi, Artistic Director of SPAF, who saw the show in London and invited us, and his wonderful teams in the programming, technical and logistics departments.

Also many thanks to Jocelyn Chng in Singapore, Kok Heng Leun, Dramaturg, whose imprints travel with the work, and to Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Asia T**A our original commissioners, and NAC for sustained travel support! And many thanks also to our partner Chamber Made and Kylie McRae.

It takes months and years to forward strategise, plan, pitch, work the network, be at the right place at the right time, and bearing the silences and disappointments comes with the territory. Sometimes things move at a snail’s pace, other times in a snap, but always a joy and triumph to get the show on the road again. CultureLink Singapore has been so proud to keep the show on tour since its premiere 5 years ago.

NEXT UP! Dragon Ladies goes to Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural Centre in Jan 2026!
