Luang Pu Moon Thitasilo was born in BE2437 in Ban Chan village, Sisaket province. He became a novice monk at the age of 14 and a full monk at the age of 23 at Wat Ban Chan. He studied various subjects from different teachers in the area for four years. Later, in BE2464, he began studying occult sciences from several schools, including the Takshila school in Ban Chik Yai, Phibun Mangsahan district, Ubon Ratchathani province. He mastered the Mahaputthakom scriptures, Pathamang scriptures, Itthije scriptures, Maharach scriptures, Trinisinghe scriptures, the art of warfare, the Nitprakasit scriptures, and the Dhanuraveda scriptures on creating magical amulets for warfare.
Around BE2475-2482, he went on a pilgrimage to Bangkok, residing at Wat Thep Thidaram. He mastered the Mūlakaccāyana Sutta and taught it at Wat Hong Ratthanaram in Thonburi for several years. Later, he stayed with Somdej Phra Sangkharaj (Pae) of Wat Suthat and studied various subjects from him. He then went on a pilgrimage to the north, entering Burma for a year, and to the south, practicing meditation and exchanging knowledge of occult sciences and magic with Phra Ajarn Tim of Wat Chang Hai for over a year. Afterward, he went on a pilgrimage to Malaysia for seven years. Following this, he studied with Luang Pu Khlai Wajasit of Wat Suan Khan, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and then traveled to the northeast, meeting Luang Pu Lee Chanthasiri in the forests of Nong Khai and learning the art of erasing colored powder from Luang Pu Si, who had received the knowledge from Somdej Phutthacharn (To Phromrangsi). Later, he met Luang Pu Man in the Ubon Ratchathani area and requested to learn the practices of meditation from him. Finally, he went on a pilgrimage to further study with Ajarn Sing of Wat Pa Salawan. And Luang Pho Jad of Wat Bang Krabao later learned the art of the Maha Prab magic knife from Luang Pho Kham of Wat Khao Kaeo and Luang Pho Ngoen of Wat Maprang Luang. This same art was also learned by Luang Pho Derm of Wat Nong Pho from both of them. He then went on a pilgrimage to the eastern region around Chanthaburi, where he met Luang Pho Son of Wat Seungsang, who trusted him to use his magical knowledge and performed the initiation ceremony. He traveled to the northeastern region and into Laos many times. When he was over 30 years old, he learned from อาจารย์ Chan, who was a great-grandson of Somdej Lun of Champasak, the renowned virtuous and supernatural being in the Kingdom of Laos, who could walk on water, shorten distances, transform, and walk through mountains. อาจารย์ Chan taught him all his knowledge and then introduced Luang Pu Moon to Luang Pu Dam, who was also a great-grandson of Somdej Lun.
Luang Pu Moon mastered the art of controlling the four elements (earth, water, wind, and fire) from the lineage of Somdej Lun. This is a mysterious knowledge beyond the reach of ordinary people. Only those with immense merit accumulated over countless lifetimes can attain it, as controlling the four elements requires mastery of the four jhanas and proficiency in the four elemental kasinas: earth, water, wind, and fire. After his enlightenment, he served as abbot of Wat Ban Chan for 20 years before resigning to dedicate the rest of his life to monastic practice.
He dedicated himself solely to Vipassana meditation. In BE2478, at the age of 50, while wandering alone in the dense forest, he unexpectedly met Ajarn Joi and Ajarn Khwan of Wat Pa Nong Lom. The two masters invited Luang Pu to bless the lay people at Wat Pa Nong Lom. He remained there until BE2520, when he returned to Wat Ban Chan. The temple, over 200 years old, was in a state of disrepair. He then undertook the project, constructing the ordination hall with his own sweat, effort, and unwavering faith, completing it in a short time. Furthermore, he assisted disciples and fellow monks in constructing permanent structures at several other temples, including Wat Pa Nong Lom, Wat Non Phung, Wat Sap Lam Yai, and the disciples of Wat Suthat. This led to the creation of many popular amulets, believed to possess powerful merit and spiritual efficacy. Through his spiritual power, at 7:30 AM on March 11, BE2546, Luang Pu Moon Thitasilo, the immortal monk of five reigns from Wat Ban Chan, Kantararom District, Sisaket Province, passed away peacefully in his kuti (monk's dwelling). He was 109 years old and had been a monk for 86 years.
