First Lady Mrs Kim Hye Kyung, who is accompanying President Lee Jae Myung on a state visit to Singapore, shared tea on the morning of the 2nd with Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, spouse of the President of Singapore. They had tea at Temenggong Artists-In-Residence, a Singapore-based non-profit arts charity and artists residency.
The space is dedicated to the creation and exhibition of diverse artworks. Last year, exhibitions and lectures by artists from both countries were held there to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Singapore.
Ms. Ittogi welcomed her guest, saying, “It is especially meaningful that Mrs. Kim Hye Kyung has personally visited this significant venue where the 50th anniversary celebration of Korea-Singapore diplomatic ties was held.”
Mrs. Kim expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you for warmly inviting and hosting me in such a special place.”
Cultural promotion and support for the arts were also key topics of conversation.
They also mentioned Korean artists who have elevated Korea’s global cultural standing across various fields, including Nam June Paik, Cho Seong-jin, and BTS.
