Do you know what instrument the Shatatantri Veena is?

The Shatatantri Veena or "veena of a hundred strings"is the ancient Sanskrit name for the Santoor. It is a traditional trapezoid-shaped hammered dulcimer native to Jammu and Kashmir and widely used in Hindustani classical music.

Padmashri Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya is one of the pioneers who have made it their life’s mission to revive and propagate this ancient indian Musical Instrument.

Come, watch Pt Tarun Bhattacharya create musical magic with Dr L. Shankar, the celebrated violinist who has created history, with 3 Grammy Awards to his credit. They will be accompanied by Pt Mithlesh Kumar Jha on the tabla.

Remembering the great artist KK on his death anniversary. Such a gentle, humble artist… gone too soon. This was at the Esplanade concert organised by Arte Compass in 2012. I had anchored the show which had Sunidhi Chauhan and KK performing. Backstage with the organisers Akila and Vijay Aiyengar.

Is a Classical concert featuring a trio three outstanding musicians.
Padmashri Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya has become a Global Ambassador of Music with his Santoor renditions. A Sangeet Natak Academy awardee, he has numerous accolades and awards in his musical journey.

He comes together in a splendid collaboration with Sri L. Shankar globally acclaimed Indian violin virtuoso, vocalist, composer, and pioneer of East–West musical fusion, renowned for blending Carnatic classical music with jazz, rock, and world music. He co-founded the legendary fusion group Shakti with John McLaughlin and collaborated with iconic artists including Frank Zappa and Peter Gabriel.

Pt. Mithlesh Kumar Jha completes the trio, with his masterful Tabla accompaniment. A Top Grade artist in radio and television , he was awarded the KALA PURASKAR national award from the Bihar government as well as the Vidya THE VIDYASHREE award by Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan (2006)
