DARKNESS HAS A SCENT

NEW RELEASE: ONDSKAN
For the last months, our team has been working on creating and developing the most challenging and ususual scent.

At first, it came as a challenge to us: can Dark Tales make a proper dark scent — disturbing, unsettling, unforgiving...?

By accident, by mistake, or maybe it was meant to be — we did. Not just dark, but deeply sinister and evil.

SO WHAT IS ONDSKAN?

Pronounced OOND-skan.
“Ondskan” means “Evil” in Swedish.

Evil is not always loud. Sometimes it is cold, composed, and patient. It does not need to shout to disturb; it only needs to remain after something irreversible has happened.

Ondskan was created not to glorify evil, but to confront it. It explores darkness as something physical — the bitter trace of harm, the silence after fire, the weight of old leather, bl**d, smoke, stone, moss, and animalic shadow.

This is not a fragrance made to comfort, seduce, or beautify. It is disturbing, challenging, and bold — a scent with brutal depth and an unsettling presence.

Ondskan is not an invitation into evil. It is a reminder that some darkness should never be romanticised, but recognized for what it is.

Head notes:
Green Cognac, Crushed Tomato Leaf, Bright Resin.

Heart notes:
Cold Stone, Vetiver, Smoked Woods, Dry Spice.

Base notes:
Bl**d Accord, G*np*wder, Burned Resins, Leather,
Moss, Hyraceum, Dark Incense, Animalic Woods.

SCENT PROFILE

A very dark and disturbing fragrance with brutal, almost ritualistic depth. Evil turned into drops — cold, bitter, smoky, and animalic, like scorched earth, old leather, extinguished fire, and something dangerous breathing in the dark. Haunted, severe, and deeply unsettling, it leaves behind a trail of ash, bl**d, burned resin, moss, and shadow.

O B S I D I A N A P P L E
is a perfume for summer, for dusk, and for sweetness wrapped in shadow.

The fragrance opens with a bright illusion: fresh apple, crisp and gleaming, as though it has been lifted straight from cool shade into warm air. Sweet mint flickers beside it, clean and fleeting, like a breath against the throat. It feels fresh at first. Almost innocent. And then... just beneath that brightness, something darker begins to stir. It is intentional. A glimpse of the story before it deepens.

Then it softens...

Ghostly white lily rises in the heart - pale, elegant, and quietly uncanny, like flowers left in a room after everyone has gone. Red berries glow beneath it, adding a tender stain of sweetness; not childish, not loud, but alive, like colour appearing in the cheeks when the evening turns intimate. The scent becomes luminous and wistful, fresh fruit turning slowly into something more romantic, more secretive.

As it settles, the base begins to speak.

Benzoin unfurls like warm resin on skin: soft ambered sweetness without heaviness, a gentle varnish over the fruit. Musk mallow adds a delicate, velvety hush, and light timber keeps everything grounded, as though the perfume has found its way into old wood warmed by the day’s last heat. The air around you feels closer. The story narrows. The glow remains.

G O T H I K A

Not all darkness is sinister… Some darkness is found in the silence of an ancient cathedral, where candle wax slowly drips onto stone floors, incense lingers beneath vaulted ceilings, and centuries of forgotten stories rest within leather-bound books. Gothika captures that atmosphere in the drops.

The scent opens with aromatic davana, bright bergamot, and melted candle wax. As it unfolds, ambrette, Bulgarian white rose, clary sage, and a signature gothic powder accord emerge from the shadows. The base settles into black musk, vetiver, immortelle, and dark velvet.

Gothika is not a perfume of loud drama. It is a perfume of atmosphere.

Purple Veil is a perfume for spring, for tenderness, and for love wrapped in melancholy.

The fragrance opens with a fleeting shadow - something slightly musty, old-fashioned, almost unsettling for just a moment. A whisper of old fabrics, church wood, and the presence of the elderly man the young bride is about to marry. It is intentional. A glimpse of the story before it disappears almost immediately.

Then Purple Veil softens.

Tender violets unfold into blooming lilacs, powdery florals and soft romantic accords. A delicate trace of incense drifts through the composition like the air inside an old church waiting for the ceremony to begin. The scent becomes elegant, wistful and deeply melancholic - like hope hidden beneath nervous hands and white lace gloves.

The story behind Purple Veil takes place somewhere in the late 19th century.

A young bride enters a church for an arranged marriage to a wealthy older man she has never truly seen before. Her face is hidden beneath a veil, her bouquet filled with lilacs and violets. And as she walks toward the altar, this is the moment she finally sees him.

That first impression lingers only briefly in the perfume’s opening.

Because despite everything, she is still young. Still hopeful. Still believing that perhaps love can grow where fate has placed her.

Purple Veil is not a tragic fragrance.
It is a romantic one - soft, nostalgic, and quietly beautiful.

Dear US customers,

We have some good news for you. Direct shipping from Dark Tales to the USA is now open again — until July.

After that, our wonderful partners will take over and continue bringing Dark Tales to the US. However, due to our production schedule and the scale of everything happening behind the scenes, it has taken us much longer than expected to send them a proper restock.

So we want to make it up to both our old and new US customers.

Until July, you can order directly from us and enjoy access to our full range — including our core collection, discovery sets, and limited editions.

From our side, we will also do everything we reasonably can to help keep import tariffs and shipping-related costs as low as possible.

Discover three atmospheric fragrances inspired by Swedish folklore, Valborg fires, witchcraft beliefs, and the strange turning point between darkness and spring. 🔥VALBORG
A smoky green-floral fragrance inspired by Swedish Walpurgis Night. It opens with the sharp breath of campfire smoke, then slowly blooms into delicate spring florals, green tea, soft woods, and vetiver. The feeling is like running through a late spring field while bonfires burn nearby — smoky at first, then fresh, floral, and gently green.

The darker fire of the collection. HÄXELD is warm, resinous, smoky, and protective — inspired by the old belief that fire could drive away witches, spirits, and ill fortune. Bright grapefruit and pink pepper cut through smoke, while clove, incense, sandalwood, amber woods, and dark resins create the feeling of glowing embers and ritual fire.

🔥BLÅKULLA
A cold smoky-aquatic fragrance inspired by the witches’ flight toward Blåkulla across the dark northern sea. It opens with cold air, pale smoke, airy florals, and sea salt, then drifts into soft woods, balsamic resin, cade smoke, and dark musks. It is the scent of leaving the campfires behind — flying over black water toward the legendary island of Swedish folklore.

A dark witchy fragrance centered around black liquorice — deep, sweet, and slightly sinister — wrapped in ripe black fruits, smoke, resin, and shadowed florals. Juicy cherry and blackberry soften its dark core, while rose, wild flowers, incense, and haunted woods leave behind a smoky, velvety trail like the air after a forbidden ritual.
