The Issue is an online magazine project which looks for revitalized concepts and explores unusual ways to conceive fashion/art industry through the vision of new talented makers who burst the scenario. We want to move ahead beyond words, images and stereotypes to talk about the creator and its genuine and unique artwork. We want to set up a space for sharing creativeness, supporting personal ventu

res which trace the becoming future of the industry as a cultural standard and a social movement in progress. The Issue is set up in a website where a free magazine issue is published. Rather than a conventional magazine, it is an international platform for the collective participation, exchange of experiences and presentation of proposals, either found at relevant events or at request of the author. We are seeking to bring together trends from experimentation, irreverence and mixture of non established concepts accross the world. The Issue was born with the purpose of exchanging, recycle and create, that means, to put across, add and share experiences internationally concerned to fashion/art, where the most important is the creator and his interpretation about the work piece.

Our Editor In Chief is one of the 8 creatives interviewed on 8 WOMEN-8TH MARCH by AlonsoAlonso

🌼🌼🌼🌼8 WOMEN - 8TH MARCH🌼🌼🌼🌼

To celebrate the 8th march, we had a small conversation with 8 of our favorite creative and inspiring women, to have a joint little reflexion on the meaning and importance of this day.
We could think that art is one of the areas where women are actually more present, but the facts paint a very different picture. This is why the Guerrilla Girls made the point on 1989 that in the MET in New York
only 5% of the artists in the modern art section were women, while 85% of the nudes are female, so maybe the only way for women to get into the MET was to get naked.
They repeated this exersize on 2012 and the results were 4% of the artists exposed were women and 76% of nudes were female.

However, these facts are mere inconveniences if we think about child brides, female circumcision or the "marry-your-rapist" laws.
We are very lucky to be able to fight for having the same life conditions, but there is many countries in the world were women barely have access to basic human rights. Where women are a lesser kind of people.
Since 1909 (when the first women´s day was observed in new york) we have come a long way, but the gap is still there, and there is still causes to fight for.

This is why we are raising our voices today: not to ignite a fight, but to start a conversation - trying to educate: since education and awareness might be the best and perhaps only answer.
Meet our team of superwomen, like the other millions of superwomen out there.

🌼Silvia is a spanish enterpreneur, she has created doFemme, an online store providing lingerie and intimate products completely organic and toxin-free.

🌼Cassidy is originally from US, but her passion for the middle eastern culture took her to Lebanon and UAE after. She is a writer and a content manager.

🌼Marta P is the founder of theISSUE magazine and CURATED MNGMNt agency - she is a swiss-army-knife kind of creative director who lives to scout and give direction to young talent.

🌼Thalia is an artisan and enterpreneur from Cyprus , founder of ThaliaBo-handmade sandals and accesories, and Ginger Muse - a DYI brand ment to inspire creativity through embroidery.

🌼Alice is a lebanese chef with the soul of a poet. She presents her emotions in the shape of the most beautiful plates, using vegan and raw recipes.

🌼Lorena is from Mexico, and is now based in Dubai. She is a creative photographer. She loves to capture the beauty of motherhood in her portraits.

🌼Marta F. is a designer and illustrator from Spain, but she lived and work in Germany as well. Her sweet voice is a great disguise for her bull-like strenght.

🌼Zahra is a belgian-moroccan-algerian stylist, designer and art director; she is a creative firecracker with endless ideas and energy.

💠AlonsoAlonso : WHY IS 8TH MARCH IMPORTANT?
Thalia: It's an opportunity for women to stand for what matters and celebrate for all the amazing things we have achieved
Zahra: it's the day that honor women and girls around the world and reflect upon the progress, courageous work and achievements that's been made to secure women's rights and shape more tolerant and equitable societies.
Alice : Because it’s my day which connects me with all the other women in the world.

💠AA- WHAT WILL YOU DO TO SUPPORT THIS CAUSE TODAY?
Lorena : Suport the crowdfounding of a very interesting video clip called "See the Beauty" which empowers women and embraces differences. Plus all the crew members are women.
Silvia : I am in Tenerife, in a week for accelaration of fashion-related start ups with other 10 enterpreneur and creative women. I will be celebrating it here with them, having the courage to take a step forward in the start-ups world, where we account for only 33% of enterpreneurs.
MartaF: This month I'm working on an illustration about female classical music composers, since sadly we know very few of them (but they exist!).

💠AA- WHAT GENDER-RELATED CHANGES WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN 2018?
A: In my country, women are still not allowed to give their nationality to their children, they’re still not accepted as single mothers and much more. All of this needs to change.
Cassidy: I’d like to see employers place more importance on their employees’ work-life balance
M.F: I would love to see women living and loving freely in every country, instead of being seen as a propierty.

💠AA- DO YOU THINK ART CAN HELP MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
L: I do, its a way of expressing emotions and little by little it can reconstruct and change cultural believes.
T: art can be a beautiful means of expression and assistance, either to get a message out to the world or to create inspiring communities and opportunities to grow.
A: Art, freedom of expression and social medias are all tools that will help make this happen.

💠AA - HAVE YOU EVER FACED AN OBSTACLE FOR YOUR WORK BECAUSE OF BEING A WOMAN?
S: Yes, from the day I started college and the interviewer asked me if my partner was ok with me studying two degrees at the same time, leaving not time for him; till the multiple job interviews where they frown upon the fact i´m 31 which is the "perfect age to become a mother"
L: I think we all constantly face struggles. But one that did change my life is realizing that, at least in my experince in México, Cinematographic Industry its a male industry and quite hard to break.
M.P: - We all do, micro machisms are there every day, and I think sometimes we need to prove ourselves more than a men to achieve the same goal. However, I have been quite lucky that I have been raised and surrounded by people that believe in equality.

💠AA: - GIVE ME THE NAME OF A WOMAN THAT INSPIRES YOU.
C: My mom! She is strong, elegant, and full of love.
T: it's hard to pick one,the women in my life, friends and family are my constant inspiration, through them i am inspired to be better, try harder and live life to the fullest.
M.P: - My sister and my mother. They are the perfect combination of intelligence, intuition and courage.

💠AA- WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO A YOUNG GIRL THAT WANTS TO EXPRESS HERSELF CREATIVELY IN TODAY´S WORLD??
M.F: Love yourself, learn to distinguish the voice of your heart from the voice of your fears. Be honest to yourself, so you know what harms you and what does good to you. And last but not least, be patient, but never give up!
L: Fight for what you want not only for you but also for all your fellows that later will find a less tough path.
S: Don´t think about your gender limitations, for these are temporary, think about your capabilities because they will make you grow far beyong your own imagination. For the world to give you something you need to start by believing you deserve it.

💠AA- WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU COULD GIVE TO A YOUNG BOY TO HELP HIS SISTERS AND FRIENDS ACHIEVE THIS CHANGE?
M.P: - I would tell them that we are all equal, and the we should respect each other, independently of our gender definition.
C: Always put yourself in the woman’s place and imagine things from her perspective. Empathy is key to clarity.
Z: one of the most important thing you could ever do for a woman is to believe in her. there's so much good work to be done in this world. the last thing we need is the distraction of insecurity. we need to work TOGETHER because the world needs ALL of us

💠AA - GIVE US A ONE-WORD STRATEGY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW.
M.P: Respect
S: Courage
C/T: Compassion
A: solidarity
L/A: education
M.F: self-love
Z: 'EDUCATE'. Educate yourself and the others. I believe with a better education, we are able to lay the foundation for change

🌼Happy women´s day to all of you - regardless of your gender.🌼
