Scene from the Late Pleistocene of La Brea in Los Angeles, California. A pair of giant short-faced bears (Arctodus simus) are duking it out whilst a herd of giant bison (Bos latifrons), a pair of western camels (Camelops hesternus) and a group of Pacific mastodons (Mammut pacificus) calmly enjoy their evening meal.

🇬🇧 It’s almost here!! My third book, ”Urgulliga urtidsungar och deras förhistoriska föräldrar” (a faithful translation of the play on words in the title would be something like ”Way-Back Babies and their Prehistoric Parents” 🤔), is a journey through prehistoric times as seen through the eyes of baby animals. Suitable for ages 3–6 (and up) 🦖🐘🦈

Scene from the Late Miocene of Pikermi in Attica, Greece. A group of storks (Ciconia gaudryi) takes flight as an Amphimachairodus giganteus approaches the water’s edge to quench its thirst. A pair of hornless rhinocerotids (Acerorhinus neleus) keep a watchful eye on the big cat whilst two enormous Deinotherium proavum prepare for a bath. In the background, a herd of Cremohipparion mediterraneum can be seen.

After a refreshing dip in the river delta, a female Schleitheimia schutzi emits a deep, resonant call to signal to the rest of the gang that the cooling break is over. Switzerland during the Late Triassic.
