STHLM DANS #5 has come to an end last night! Was it all a dream?

It is a bit early to do the maths, but we can already share a few facts from this edition exceptional in scale: 

11 dance works with 20 representations in total
13 different locations, all over Stockholm and Botkrka
More than 40 international delegates visiting the festival
A festival within the festival with Baltic Take Over
3 workshops 
1 club night with a full line-up of performances and DJs
1 mixed reality installation
2 dance films 
7 visiting artists from all around Europe as part of Visiting Artists Programme
Choreographers from from Sweden, Australia, Belarus, Estonia, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania and the UK
A full professional programme with talks, seminars, workshops and visits

Countless love, inspiration and encounters. Fostering curiosity, stepping outside of the familiar, taking risk, falling in love, dreaming together.

Konstnärshuset deltar i STHLM Dans med Lilian Steiner

Under 2026 gör den australiensiskfödda koreografen och konstnären Lilian Grace Steiner ett artist-in-residence på Konstnärshuset som innebär att hon under året framför tre koreografiska verk, varav det första visas i samarbete med den femte upplagan av den årliga samtida dansfestivalen STHLM DANS

Want to dive deeper into TESTO? We’ve published an essay exploring the world of Wet Mess, written by D Mortimer — a London-based writer working with experimental trans and crip narratives. ”Pussy Envy” is based on an interview with Wet Mess, following the premiere of TESTO at Battersea Arts Centre in 2025.

”At the start of making TESTO Wet says they suffered from imposter syndrome. ’What do I know about being trans?’ They thought to themselves. ’What qualifies me to make this show?’ But, reflecting on the trust bestowed on them by the trans people who lent their voices to the soundtrack, Wet began to view the process differently. ’As soon as I started really believing in that trust, I began to trust myself and it became really fun. Someone described me as a channel receiving these voices. And we actually referred to the voices as Gods. I like the idea of being a vessel - it’s quite clowny. I mean no one is a neutral body right? But the word vessel gave me license to play with fantasy and reality in the show’.”
