Before there was a Galleri Melefors in Linköping, there was Johan Krouthén, born in this very city in 1858, decades before he’d become one of Sweden’s most celebrated landscape painters.
He trained in Stockholm alongside Anders Zorn, but it was the Swedish countryside, its rivers, meadows, and golden summer light, that held his attention for life. This piece - “Grazing Cows by the Åkanten“ captures exactly that.
Below it, the glass sculptures are by Micke Johansson, once Sweden’s youngest glassblowing master. Nearly three decades in, he remains the only glassblower working in the technique known as “double ariel.”
