Before there was a Galleri Melefors in Linköping, there was Johan Krouthén, born in this very city in 1858, decades before he’d become one of Sweden’s most celebrated landscape painters.

He trained in Stockholm alongside Anders Zorn, but it was the Swedish countryside, its rivers, meadows, and golden summer light, that held his attention for life. This piece - “Grazing Cows by the Åkanten“ captures exactly that.

Below it, the glass sculptures are by Micke Johansson, once Sweden’s youngest glassblowing master. Nearly three decades in, he remains the only glassblower working in the technique known as “double ariel.”

“Wow, you shoot on film.”

That’s what Steve Jobs said the moment he spotted legendary photographer Albert Watson’s analog 4×5 camera back in 2006.

The session ran unusually long for Jobs, resulting in one of the most iconic, recognizable portraits of the 21st century—and according to Watson, Jobs’ own favorite picture of himself.

The definitive portrait of a visionary.

Albert Watson. Steve Jobs, Cupertino, Calif., 2006

Galleri Melefors welcomes you to The Wild Within — an upcoming exhibition with Karin Holmström.

Holmström's work explores the wild — not only in nature, but within ourselves. Rooted in her previous work inspired by encounters with wildlife in Botswana, she moves towards a more intuitive and personal expression where love for nature meets something deeply human.

The result is a dynamic and vibrant collection of works, some still bearing traces of the figurative, others opening towards something more abstract and experimental, bold and free.

Förhandsvisning | Thursday 21 May, 16–19 | Sibyllegatan 69, Stockholm
Vernissage | Saturday 23 May, 11–15 | Platensgatan 7, Linköping
Exhibition runs 23–30 May in Linköping

There are places that hold memory in their walls. The turbine halls of The Steam Hotel in Västerås is one of them. Industrial, vast, and charged with the stories of those who worked within them.

It was here that Andreas Lundberg, a Stockholm-based art photographer raised in Västerås, created "Art Worker". A series of photographs inspired by the child labourers who made art under the weight of the industrial revolution.

Lundberg's work has always moved between the personal and the universal, as seen in his other series "Silent Stories" created together with Annie Vesterdahl Lundberg, transforming real-life stories into timeless photographs. Art Worker is no different.

Shot on fine art print. Limited edition. Sold with a certificate of authenticity.

On view 16–17 May at The Steam Hotel, Västerås.
In collaboration with Galleri Melefors.

We continue the spring season with an exhibition by Emilia Linderholm — Klorofyll och vårljus — soon opening at our gallery on Sibyllegatan 69 in Stockholm.

In her painting, green shades of chlorophyll meet soft pink tones in a world filled with light, greenery, and the first breath of spring. Feminine figures recur throughout her work, dreaming, strong, and timeless. The same visual language lives on in her glass art, where the figures come alive in light and transparency.

We warmly welcome you to join us and meet Emilia Linderholm in person. Light refreshments will be served.

Förhandsvisning | Thursday 7 May, 16–19
Vernissage | Saturday 9 May, 11–15
Sibyllegatan 69, Stockholm

The exhibition runs through 16 May, and selected works are also available on melefors.com
