"Her Day Off"
Graphite on a5 (14.8 x 21 cm)

To continue the resting lion theme where my previous work is called "A Day Off", I now present Her Day Off.

In "Her Day Off", the lioness, who is so often defined by her motherhood, independence and power allows herself a rare pause. She finally gets to lie down and rest, and her eyes are slowly closing, as if for once the world can continue without her constant care. Her strength is not lost, only laid aside. This drawing is a reminder that even those who carry the most for others are allowed to rest, that not every moment requires resilience, and that there is courage in no longer holding everything together. For a moment, she is not a guardian, not a provider, not the silent force behind survival, but simply a soul at ease.

"Ärtan"
Graphite on A4 (21.0 x 29.7 cm)

Here is the finished portrait of Ärtan. I’m truly happy with how this drawing turned out!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I don’t usually work with colored pencils anymore. However, this client already owns colored portraits of his previous dogs and wanted to continue the same theme. This is the third drawing he has commissioned from me, and there are still two more to come.

Ärtan, which translates to “The Pea” in English actually suits her perfectly. She was the smallest in the litter and had a very tough start in life. She was born without signs of life but fought her way back. Being so tiny, she was sometimes bullied by her siblings, which left her with a small hole in her ear, a little mark that tells part of her story.

✨️Work in progress✨️

Today I started working on a commission of “Ärtan” (which means “The Pea” in English, haha)💚

This is the third drawing I’m doing for the buyer, and I feel so honored that he keeps coming back to me to create portraits of his dogs! I don’t usually work with colored pencils anymore, but the buyer kindly asked me if I could because he already had a few colored portraits of his previous dogs and wanted them to match🐕

I’m really looking forward to bringing little Ärtan to life!

"Simba"
Graphite on A4 (21 x 29.7 cm).

This drawing is of my mom’s beloved Bengal cat, Simba, which I gave her as a birthday gift yesterday, and it brought her so much joy!🥰🎁

Simba is truly one of a kind. He and my mom have always shared a classic love-hate relationship, because in my personal opinion he is incredibly annoying and fully capable of driving even the sanest person into insanity 🤯. At 15 years old, he’s quite the old man, yet his soul remains young, dramatic, and very loud. He spends his days constantly yapping and his nights waking my mom up… simply because he can. Simba also has very fancy, expensive taste and will only eat food that meets his high standards 👑. Despite all of this, he is deeply loved and an inseparable part of our family❤️

Thank you so much to everyone for all the lovely comments on my latest artwork, and for the new followers!🥰

My next piece is planned to be a portrait of my cat, Ace, so I can also showcase another cat portrait. I was going to start drawing it today, but my dog Enzo injured his paw yesterday evening, so I barely slept and spent today giving him some extra love and care. Hopefully I’ll be back on track tomorrow! 🥺

I also don’t have an idea yet for my next original artwork, so if you have any suggestions, they’re more than welcome in the comments❤️👇

“Enzo”
Graphite on A4 (21 × 29.7 cm)

Finally finished the second portrait of my bestest boy, Enzo. He was about 16 months old here🐾

I have about a thousand photos of Enzo already, so there will probably be many more portraits of him in the future (an easy and perfect excuse to keep expanding my portrait portfolio). He also looks different on photos as his fur is very shiny and light reflecting 😂

He may look majestic in photos, but his personality is pure Scooby-Doo energy: extremely goofy, very childish, scared of many things, and deeply committed to quality snacks 🍔😱

My goal is to grow a larger pet portrait portfolio, as I create not only original works but also commissioned pet portraits 😊

"Carrying On"
Graphite & white gel pencil on A4 (29.7 × 21 cm)

A heavy draft horse walks uphill through deep snow, leaning into the climb while a strong winter wind pushes from behind. The horse is clearly struggling, yet it continues.

This piece is dedicated to everyone who recognizes themselves in that movement. To those who have carried heavy burdens, moved through difficult seasons, and chosen to keep going even when the way forward felt uncertain or exhausting. It is for the the slow, steady effort of putting one step in front of the other when rest would be easier, when stopping would feel justified. It is a reminder that even when progress feels almost invisible, it is still progress. That strength does not always look like speed or ease, but often like endurance, patience, and the willingness to remain present with the weight we carry. And that the path ahead can, and will grow brighter, even if it does not yet feel that way.

This is my second work of 2026, created in celebration of the Year of the Horse in the Chinese zodiac. The horse here represents strength, resilience, and hope, but also the courage it takes to continue when everything feels impossible.

I’m excited to share my latest artwork project!
It might not look like much yet, but I think it has the potential to become my best piece so far according to my vision. Anyone following me will probably and hopefully be surprised by the final result compared to this picture 🤭

I’ve actually made more progress on it in real life than what’s shown here. Hint: snowy horse magic in progress❄️✨

To begin 2026, the Year of the Horse, I present "Guarded by Love".

Graphite on A3 (29.7 × 42 cm)

Two wild horses rest their heads together in a moment of stillness, their bodies close, their connection unspoken. One remains awake, alert yet calm, while the other surrenders fully to rest. In this gentle contrast between watchfulness and trust, the drawing reveals love not as something loud or dramatic, but as quiet presence.

The open eyes become a symbol of guardianship driven by care, while the closed eyes speak of safety and peace. The work reflects how love can be a form of protection, and how peace is sometimes found not in solitude, but in being safely seen and gently held by another.
