När jag ser ordet välkommen tänker jag på människor från olika bakgrunder, alla som bidrar med något unikt. Meningen jag har i åtanke är ”alla är välkomna”.

När jag ser ordet ’hem’ tänker jag omedelbart på gemenskap och en känsla av tillhörighet.

The DJ reflects on the exhibition title
When I see the word welcome I think of people coming from different backgrounds, everyone bringing something to the table that is uniquely theirs. The sentence I have in mind is ”everyone is welcome”.

What I see the word ’home’ I immediatly think of community and a sense of belonging.

Jamir Lee Currusa är en tvärvetenskaplig curator/kreatÜr. Uppvuxen i Houston, Texas, Lee flyttade tillbaka till Sverige, Dals lünged, där han sedan formade sitt konstnärliga sprük genom textilier och utforskade mänsklig anknytning till objekt. Utforskade var identitet och objekt mÜts.

’När jag hör ordet welcome tänker jag på mänskligheten att alla är välkomna precis som de är, utan att behöva förändra sig för att passa in. När jag hör ordet home tänker jag på trygghet. En plats där jag kan vara mig själv, känna mig accepterad och omgiven av värme, kärlek och tillhörighet.’

’Min konst är en hyllning till naturen, havet och människans inre resa. Mina blomsterkvinnor symboliserar självkärlek, personlig utveckling och modet att blomstra till den du är menad att vara. Ordet välkommen für mig att tänka pü resor, när antingen tullen eller flygvärdinnan välkomnar dig till ett nytt land och den enorma spänningen i att vara nügonstans lüngt hemifrün.

När jag läser ordet hem, tänker jag pü de münga platser där jag skulle kunna känna mig hemma, som egentligen inte är mitt hem eller ett hem alls. Oavsett var jag befinner mig i världen känner jag mig hemma pü museer, i kamerabutiker, jazzbarer, i närvaro av goda människor, och jag känner att hem ocksü kan hittas i ett konstverk.

Mustafe Wadi är fotograf med ett skarpt Üga fÜr vardagens stillsamma poesi. Genom sina bilder füngar han Ügonblick som lätt passerar obemärkta och ger dem en subtil känsla av magi. Hans fotografi rÜr sig mellan det dokumentära och det drÜmlika, där ljus, närvaro och smü detaljer fÜrvandlar det vardagliga till nügot att stanna upp infÜr.

The word welcome immediately makes me think of travel, when either the immigration or flight attendants welcome you to a new country and the immense excitement of being somewhere far from home.

When I read the word home I think of the many places that I would be able to feel at home in, that are not in fact my home or a home at all. No matter where I am in the world, I feel at home in museums, camera stores, jazz bars, in the presence of good people, and I feel that home can also be found in a piece of art.

Mustafe Wadi is a photographer with a keen eye for the quiet poetry of everyday life. Through his images, he captures moments that easily pass unnoticed and gives them a subtle sense of magic. His photography moves between the documentary and the dreamlike, where light, presence and small details transform the everyday into something to stop and think about.

Titlen välkommen hem für mig att tänka pü en känsla av tillhÜrighet, att känna mig trygg och bekväm.

Sofie Santos (fÜdd 1997, baserad i Amsterdam) är en bildkonstnär som arbetar med rumsliga installationer, digital och analog film. Hon tog examen frün VAV-Moving Image pü Gerrit Rietveld Academie i Amsterdam, Nederländerna. FÜdd i Sverige med en kubansk far och en ukrainsk mor blev avstündet mellan dessa kulturer en inre spricka. Detta avslÜjade en universell mänsklig erfarenhet som skapade en länk mellan en inre och en yttre värld. Den konfronterade behovet av att hitta en gemensam grund, büde konstnärligt och personligt. Genom sitt arbete inbjuder hon betraktaren att reflektera Üver mänsklig sürbarhet.

The title welcome home makes me think of a feeling of belonging, feeling safe and at ease.

Sofie Santos (b. 1997, based in Amsterdam) is a visual artist working with spatial installations, digital and analog film. She graduated from VAV-Moving Image at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Born in Sweden with a Cuban father and a Ukrainian mother, the distance between these cultures became an internal rift. This revealed a universal human experience that created a link between an internal and external world. It confronted the need to find common ground, both artistically and personally. Through her work, she invites the viewer to contemplate on human vulnerability.

Sanna Kristedt (hon/henne) är en GÜteborgsbaserad poet vars poesi utforskar personlig och kollektiv sorg, kärlek, fÜrlust och erfarenheten av att leva mellan tvü världar.
Sedan 2017 har skrivandet varit en livskraft – ett sätt att skapa mening, närvaro och gemenskap. Genom poesin väver Sanna samman röster, minnen och berättelser, med en stark tro på solidaritet över språk, gränser och levda erfarenheter.
Hon tror pü poesins kraft att fÜrändra världen, även om det bÜrjar med ett enda Ügonblick av eftertanke.

Sanna Kristedt (she/her) is a Gothenburg-based poet whose work explores personal and collective grief, love, loss, and the experience of living between two worlds.
Writing has been a life force since 2017—a way of creating meaning, presence, and connection. Through poetry, Sanna weaves together voices, memories, and stories, believing that solidarity can exist across languages, borders, and lived experiences.
She believes poetry has the power to change the world, even if it begins with a single moment of reflection.

Hmmm, kan jag sätta ihop mina tankar eller något separat för varje ord? Hur som helst, jag tänker på ett bord fullt med mat som lagats av min familj, jag tänker på skor sparkade av mig vid dörren, jag tänker på varma kramar med mina vänner i Amsterdam, jag tänker på packkartonger och instabila bostäder 💃🏻

Reem Dada är en brittisk syrisk tvärvetenskaplig konstnär baserad i Amsterdam, Nederländerna.

Hennes arbete fokuserar pü konceptet identitet och tillhÜrighet inom q***ra rum, gemenskap och diaspora. Hon tror att allt är fÜrgängligt och fÜrsÜker genom sitt arbete fÜrstü de ständigt fÜränderliga Ügonblicken i tiden.

Hmmm can I put my thoughts together or something separate for each word? Anyway I think of a table full of food cooked by my family, I think of shoes kicked off by the door, I think of warm hugs with my friends in Amsterdam, I think of packing boxes and unstable housing 💃🏻

Reem Dada is British Syrian multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 
Her work focuses on the concept of identity and belonging within q***r space, community, and the diaspora. She believes everything is transient and through her work tries to make sense of the everchanging moments in time.
She is fascinated by daily human interactions and inspired by her immediate environment, trying to capture intimate moments, people, and objects that have an impact on her life.
