This is a Mariculture coral farming done by Golden Reef Solomon Islands LTD.
It is a process of cultivating corals in marine environments, typically in offshore nurseries, for purposes like reef restoration, scientific research, or the aquarium trade.
The process involves collecting small coral fragments, securing them to structures like racks or discs, and allowing them to grow into larger, sellable pieces or for outplanting onto degraded reefs. This method is a more sustainable alternative and can also provide livelihoods for local communities.
Our goal is to give sustainable livelihood to the coastal community by educating them on how to collect live ornamental tropical fish in an environmentally-safe way through proper use of monofilament nets and mariculture coral farming 🪸
