Cluj Ceramics Biennale

Cluj Ceramics Biennale We celebrate it through a synergistic series of cultural events and by facilitating a hub for inter-cultural and inter-professional dialogue.

The only international contemporary ceramics competition in Romania and SE Europe, a synergistic series of cultural events unfolding over the course of a month. Over the course of a month, Cluj Ceramics Biennale creates an environment for contemporary art that features exhibitions, a pottery fair, film projections, workshops, conferences, public round tables and other events around our main intern

ational competition for which a renowned jury selects a hundred artists from around the world. Contemporary ceramics is an ingenious alchemy of concepts containing forms of expression specific to many genres, merged into a complex, interdisciplinary and integrative art. More so, we stimulate visual awareness in this field by introducing new and local viewers to international artists and contemporary art practices. In our previous editions we gathered thousands of applications and hundreds of participants, featured several ceramic art exhibitions in multiple cities in Romania and hosted numerous connected events. The Biennale is organized by the Ceramart Foundation in Cluj-Napca, Romania and it's conventional supporting partners include The Art Museum, The University of Arts & Design, The Fine Arts College and The Romanian Visual Artists Union. As a cultural project we have also been co-founded by the AFCN (Romanian National Cultural Fund), Cluj-Napoca Local Council and the Cluj County Council.
