The Merthyr Murders, or Rinsed in Blood, is inspired by the time the author spent as a hairdresser in Aberystwyth and the times the author visited Merthyr Tydfil in southern Wales.
Gingerlocks is a nickname for a girl who shares the same name as her coworker. It seemed she never got what she wanted, but Gingerlocks thought that life was about to act in her favour. So, she asked the boss if she could buy the salon that she grew up dreaming of, the place where she had been working since her first job, since she was first old enough to work.
Unfortunately, her boss did not wish to retire. Worse still, the boss kept up the poster of Gingerlock's mortal enemy. But the last straw was when all their clients had gone home, and Gingerlocks was fired.
No one else knew about that, so Gingerlocks could simply tell them that the boss had sold the salon and left town, right?
With gossip and everyone watching her every step, could Gingerlocks get away with murder? There were bound to be witnesses, and she bound the witnesses...
But then, with each step, each accomplice becomes a liability:
