I have another very good friend here with me today. He hadn’t been here for a long time, and as you can see in the video, a few white spots had also appeared. But we managed to get everything back in shape again.

Unfortunately, Louis cut his hair, around 20–30 centimeters, maybe even more.

My good friend Harry was with me again recently. I think it was around two months ago that he last had his roots maintained. This time, he wanted just a quick touch-up because he’s heading back to Germany from the Algarve for a few months.

Harry works a lot in the garden, so his mane had already become quite wild and messy again. Within just two hours, I gave his 40 locks a quick, natural crochet maintenance. I didn’t make them too tight or pull them too firmly towards the scalp — I simply kept everything natural, just the way he likes it.

With fresh and young dreadlocks, there’s really no need to pull them aggressively or make them extremely tight against the scalp. They should always be maintained gently and naturally, without being too harsh or putting too much tension on the roots. If you’ve gone a longer time without maintenance, then of course a more intensive session can be done.

This was definitely a more challenging case. The dreadlocks had shrunk considerably and had become very bumpy, compact, and hard. It was quite difficult to bring them back into a clean, consistent shape.

Additionally, I created one extra dreadlock in the first row on the upper left side, as there was a significant amount of loose hair that needed to be incorporated.

With this type of dreadlocks, it’s especially important to roll them thoroughly after every wash. The hair should never be washed with very hot water. After washing, take the time to properly roll each dreadlock for around 30 seconds to one minute. This technique is called palm rolling and helps keep the dreadlocks smooth, compact, and well-shaped.

I made a little house visit for a quick exchange of eight dreadlocks.

I had prepared the new extensions beforehand with open ends. In about an hour, I cut the old dreadlocks straight, gently backcombed the ends, and crocheted the new extensions back on.

We had a very special guest visit us all the way from Lisbon. 🙏

The challenge with this appointment was that the hair on the top of the head had already become quite thin in some areas, so I had to improvise a little. I created two to three new dreadlocks to blend everything together as naturally as possible.

As you can see, there is less hair on the crown, but I did my very best to achieve the best possible result while working as carefully as I could.

To finish the look, I added a fresh braid.

We had a lovely visit from a wonderful client who had spent the past year living in Switzerland.

She came back with a new row of dreadlocks that she had created herself. We originally made eight dreadlocks for her, so during this visit I simply did some root maintenance to keep everything looking neat and healthy. After that, she was all set again.

We had a short visit from a client who came all the way from the Loulé area. In just two hours, we repaired all 20 of his dreadlocks. I’m really happy with how they turned out!

To finish the look, we braided the dreadlocks to help the style last longer.

We had a little summer visit from Jamilla. She came to see us while on holiday with her family from the Lagos area of the Algarve.

About three months ago, I did a thorough dreadlock cleanup and removed all the loose, matted hair.
During her visit, we straightened and tidied up all of her loops and bumps again. Hopefully, they’ll stay neat for much longer this time!
