Just starting Aeropolis: Queering Air in Toxicpolluted Worlds by . Feels like breathing in an affirmation I didn’t know I needed. As a nonbinary artist, working with scent has always felt intuitively right—an invisible, expressive medium without rigid boundaries. But Calvillo’s words bring a new clarity, showing how air and scent can hold space for fluidity, complexity, and all forms of existence. Finding such peace in knowing the medium I’m drawn to also reflects my identity, offering room for boundless expression. It sounds so obvious, but apparently it takes another’s words to make the familiar feel profoundly true.
