O ORTO convida artistas, artesãos, pensadores e facilitadores a propor workshops, conversas ou eventos em 2026. Procuramos propostas que promovam o diálogo entre disciplinas, a aprendizagem através da prática e o envolvimento directo com a natureza e o lugar.

O ORTO oferece espaço, divulgação e apoio organizacional. Os valores, alojamento e detalhes práticos são definidos individualmente após a seleção.

ORTO invites artists, makers, thinkers, and facilitators to propose workshops, talks, or events for 2026 public programme. We welcome proposals that encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue, learning through making, and experiential engagement with nature and place.

ORTO offers space, promotion, and organisational support. Prices, accommodation, and other details are agreed individually after selection.

ORTO Residency Program 2026 — Open Call We invite all creatives, thinkers and practitioners from different disciplines to join the 2026 residency season.
Our focus is to bring together local and international artists, writers, architects, designers, musicians, scientists, philosophers, activists and cultural practitioners who share curiosity and openness. Through shared living and meaningful dialogue, we encourage residents to question, experiment, and expand their practice in a safe and inspiring environment.

Up to six residents share a home, meals, and studio spaces - cultivating an atmosphere of exchange and collaboration.

On-site Residency — accommodation, studio, and meals included
Satellite Residency — studio access and shared lunch
Minimum stay — 4 weeks

We’re excited to welcome Sonja Trabandt () as our next artist-in-residence at ORTO! She’ll be joining us next week for a 3-week stay ✨

Based in Berlin, Sonja is an artist, photographer, and communication designer whose creative path has taken her across Germany, Nigeria, South Africa, and the USA. Her work blends the conceptual and surreal—delving into themes like illness, mental health, and the human search for inner freedom.

Working across photography, photobooks, and immersive installations, she weaves intuitive storytelling with philosophical and scientific inquiry—often expanding her imagery into experimental materials like melted plastic, cloth, or dried wood.

At ORTO, Sonja will be continuing her powerful ongoing project WOO ME—an abstract, installation-based exploration of fire as both creator and destroyer, shaping a visual landscape between wonder and dystopia. 🔥✨

Temos o prazer de receber Sonja Trabandt () como a nossa próxima artista residente no ORTO! Ela junta-se a nós na próxima semana para uma estadia de 3 semanas ✨

Sonja é uma artista, fotógrafa e designer de comunicação baseada em Berlim, com um percurso criativo que a levou por países como Alemanha, Nigéria, África do Sul e EUA. O seu trabalho combina o conceptual e o surreal — explorando temas como doença, saúde mental e a busca humana pela liberdade interior.

Através da fotografia, livros de artista e instalações imersivas, Sonja mistura narrativa intuitiva com investigação filosófica e científica — muitas vezes expandindo a imagem para materiais experimentais como plástico derretido, tecido ou madeira seca.

Durante a sua residência no ORTO, irá continuar o seu projeto atual WOO ME — uma exploração abstrata e baseada em instalação do fogo como força criadora e destruidora, moldando uma paisagem visual entre o deslumbramento e a distopia. 🔥✨

Spring is slowly unfolding at ORTO, and so is our permaculture garden — the heart of our land and daily life here. 🌱🌸🍋

What started as part of the renovation dream is now taking root as a living, growing space that nourishes not only our communal lunches, but also our way of being together.

We believe that creativity and care for the earth go hand in hand. Our garden is a quiet collaborator in that process — offering seasonal ingredients, a moment of pause, and a reminder of the rhythms we share with nature.

As we prepare to welcome our first residents, the garden is already doing its part — grounding us, feeding us, and inspiring what’s to come.

A primavera está a chegar devagar ao ORTO — e a nossa horta de permacultura também está a florescer 🌱🌸🍋

O que começou como parte do sonho de renovação está agora a ganhar raízes como um espaço vivo e fértil que alimenta não só os nossos almoços comunitários, mas também a nossa forma de estar juntos.

Acreditamos que a criatividade e o cuidado com a terra andam de mãos dadas. A horta é uma colaboradora silenciosa nesse processo — oferece ingredientes sazonais, momentos de pausa e um lembrete dos ritmos que partilhamos com a natureza.

Enquanto nos preparamos para receber os primeiros residentes, a horta já está a cumprir o seu papel — a enraizar-nos, a alimentar-nos e a inspirar o que aí vem.
